What's your favorite wheel shape?
@TRAVIESO_NA
@TRAVIESO_NA 5 ай бұрын
I used to love conical shape. But now I’m open minded to shapes. I’m even riding Tablets and some Nomads by Oj and they both are square. But I also am riding some super wide wheels and some traditional slender rounded bones wheels. So idk anymore😢 lol they are all good. Spitfire, Bones/Powell and OJs all make good wheels. All the other brands I’ve tried just had break in period and less longevity

I skated Tablets for 2 years and love them, but I’ve recently switched to the 97a Bones Nano Cubics and they are pretty much the wheel of my dreams.

When I make wheel wells, I put the trucks an wheels on, clamp them to each side and draw on to the deck with a pen, (around the wheels) On old decks I just draw a half circle around the wheelbite marks. then use a belt sander , then paint or clear coat.

Yousta is a brand that sort of caught my eye supporting skate scene and unique skaters. Also there is a local company that makes their own wood and also supports community in big ways called Sapient.

I love what you stand for @ZackDowdy and I 100% agree that skate companies should do more for the skate community. Big reason for why I started my channel, I felt that the skate community doesn’t talk much about mental health, so I figured I could give/teach some free skill through it, and bring awareness to it; hoping to make more with it myself, like home made boards as well, just haven’t finished my press to start. Keep killing it man, your channel is one of a kind, which is what attracted me to it.

Absolutely love the side of the road skate spot you found and went back to. I remember as a kid all the spots i'd see from the car window that i wanted to skate - and dreamed how I could skate it. You get to do that as a kid and as a passenger! I'm just now getting back to it after being a dad and the driver for 25 years!

I used to buy 54mms but got some 39mm wheels a s a joke recently. Turns out I loved them. Super light and fast pop. Really liked them. Now I got 52mm tablets because i'm riding a 8.6 deck. This way my lock in is closer to the edge of the board (because they are slimmer) and you can control/stabalize the grind a bit better. I like them and coming from a 39mm the speed and smoothness feels great.

I definitely agree with you on bearings. If you spent more than $30, you're just throwing money away. I've never tried shields-off, but I think the idea is to run them without lube for dirt to stick to. Skateboarding is so under the bearing's spec that running dry bearings probably works fine, but I've never tried it.

You can use like four bearing washers on the inside of the wheel to space it out further to cover the wheel nut a little more
@ZackDowdy
@ZackDowdy 5 ай бұрын
Good point! Little hard with ace's because the thread space is limited.
@Robebabu
@Robebabu 4 ай бұрын
How would that work? The nut stops where it hits the bearing. Adding washers to the inside doesn't affect the profile of the wheel. It just makes your trucks feel wider.

Only reason I had a set of Swiss Ceramic’s is because I got them for free. I will say I had them for years till one of my friends borrowed my board and then lent that board to our other friend who moved across the country. I also found out about that by my friend sending me a picture of “his” board. So yeah I’m Reds or Bronson G2’s all the way and if I noticed I was having reliability issues I’d get Super Reds or G3’s. I doubt I’d have reliability issues with them though because I’ve used Reds for over 20 years after having major reliability issues with Black Panthers, Pig, and Lucky bearings.

I absolutely hate the way the Tablets look on a board. I liked how they locked in for certain grinds, but also didn’t like them as much for flatground. If I wanted to have that lock in feeling, I’d just get the Lock-In shape, but I think I’ll continue skating the Classic.
