Regarding Pigeons: Got a one legged (and also missing a toe from his other foot) pigeon around here that I have fed for about two years. (Its the only pigeon I feed and only using bird feed suitable for him). He even recognises me a fair bit away from the house and comes swooping in, also flies by over my shoulder or head extra close so I dont overlook him (and he gets his food).

Don't worry, it's wrong, or at least partially true. Humans have been using pigeons for food for a long time, specially in sea travel and also for corresponding. But the reason why pigeons gather around humans settlements it's for easy access to food, it's not a coincidence pigeons are labeled as rats with wings, they are fierce scavengers and garbage eaters, carry a lot of diseases and are extremely assholes to native birds wherever they go, bullying and pecking smaller and less aggressive birds. So, it's not exactly how splatty put it, it's more like "hey humans, we like to be around you to eat your garbage, and carry Cryptococcosis, Histoplasmosis and Psittacosis around".

i wish there was more to this game. Theres something so satisfying about a strategy game that can be played with four arrow keys and one button . Kingdom games be doing reskins since new lands, a real shame

Absolutely. I've been wanting a Kingdom-like game that's just "Kingdom but different". If this one expands its content and the meta progression it could be a real gem. One can only dream.

@@SalmonCaramel "hoglands" is pretty similiar to kingdoms, could also try "until we die", but i heard its abandonware. Can also try ratropolis. Splat should have vids on at least hoglands and ratropolis not sure on until we die.

I am sure someone else has said this, but the windmills, dude if you can defend them the best money maker in the game, each one gives you 1g per day per field around them, which cost 1g to build, but after they are built you can upgrade the windmill to give 3g per field, then last upgrade is I think 5g and you can have up to 8 fields so that helped me a lot with the desert map

I know you may not be playing this much more but a few tips for those that may be watching - You're holding the unit control button for too long when commanding them meaning your making them hold position which limits their effectiveness. Also, alt allows you to see all buildings you can build. And, give mills/farms more love they're really powerful

I finished the game just now with all the possible achievements in around 3 hours of gameplay. It's really easy and needs more work, but the concept is wonderful

@@maximedurante7574 Perhaps you're not that great then hehe where are you struggling? I finished the game with all crowns easily. All maps follow same logic, hard focus on economy. And in the harder waves with debuffs it's even more important to slow em down with the very defensive towers. U can loop enemies very easily too by keeping them on you instead of buildings.

I love the idea of this game. It would be really epic if the player were allowed to design the base and build structures freely. Otherwise, it just seems like you either A) Upgrade as expected.. Or.. B) Don't upgrade in the proper steps and end up getting destroyed. Either way, I love these low cost games. I'm absolutely obsessed with the 'Bullet Heaven/Horde Survival' genre. Tyvm @Splattercatgaming for always showing me epic indie games. I have discovered SO MANY games I love via your channel.

The US military (and others I'm sure) continued to use carrier pigeons for communications all the way through World War I. Once radios became more reliable and long-distance they were phased out.

I’m very curious. Could be fun. Though this is likely not within the scope of the game, I have a feeling that having a rival castle that you attack would greatly expand the feeling of the game(not certain the right words). I’m pretty sure this is a result of having your own units and leader. But having them attack the enemy seems, right.

Birds are very intelligent. Our little bird would play matchbox cars with my 2 boys. He would grab the car and drive it around just like you or me would play with a toy car, well minus the engine noises =)

You kept ordering your troops to stand ground, that's why they weren't moving to engage the enemy. Holding the button down tells them to stand ground.

6:57 WTF? Since the original IPhone? Dude no - just NO! Dude look up "Rampart", "Ambush at Sorinor" - and the big daddy of TDs (There are others but really - let's be honest - this was where it took off!) : Warcraft 3 and the modding scene around it. Still to this day there are mods for WC3 which are better than most of the TDs of today. It's actually insane how many ideas which are there just waiting to be grabbed - and no one is doing it? Also - side note - birthplace of the MOBA genre. - Also - a lot of RPG elements... Really it's kinda sad a lot of you younglings missed out on that whole WC3 modding thing when it was at its peak... it's was SO DAMN GOOD - All I can say is - They came from... behind! 😀

Bought a week ago or so, enjoyed it reasonably well. Has a problem where the only way to exit the game is by forfeiting the current attempt entirely which isn't great. But it's fun so far.

Concept is great, feels like a nice twist to what a tower defender should be. That said, it also feels like it's lacking something in the way progression works. Would have a ton of replayability, if the progression system felt more... rewarding.

Our town has employed a "pigeon manager". He feeds the pigeons so their excrements arent that "acidic" anymore (which only happens when they feed on things that arent "good" for them like bread etc.) and to make them accustomed to a big room in the attic of the town hall so they start to nest there. The eggs are then replaced by fake ones. He also found several messenger pigeons that got lost during their flight and was able to return them to their owners. Overall the pigeon population went down quiet sharply. They also dont hang around in the city center anymore since they now have a place where they are fed and dont need to scavenge. Where we previously had "flocks" of 100 to 150 of them in the town square scavenging there you now only see a rare few.

Love your work, Splat. Maybe extend your empathy to every animal we have exploited in the past 10000 years. At least pigeons aren't enslaved and slaughtered by the billion. Don't worry about the pigeons. It's the chickens and the cows and the rest you should feel for.
