Love it how the monster thinks "two of my friends just got brutally killed. I should get out of here." Then it sees you and decides it'd rather run to its death than face you. Not that I blame him, but damn. Also, gotta love that Moonwalker scream on the leapers.

Very cool game and effects for the time. I like how they wove horror themes from movies in here. Evil Ded, The Thing, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc.

First game was an absolute tour de force of art, and story-telling for the time. Consider the stage after Jennifer fades to mist in your arms, when you're in Rick's subconscious fighting off little embryonic-looking things that emerge from sacs of fluid and then beat the shit out of a heart at the end is a great piece of symbolism to capture Rick's grief at losing his love. Once you beat the stage it gets even better because now the whole forest is on fire, implying that while you were deep in Rick's mind processing his grief, he was going mad with it and setting the trees alight.

Wow, what a skilled playthrough! You are indeed a "Game Master" for beating this on the highest difficulty. Always a joy to watch people play through the _Splatterhouse_ games, which hold a special place in my heart.

Amazing. This game is nearly impossible as the monsters patterns are not initially obvious but learnable after a many tries. I got past this as a kid but it was nothing as impressive as this speed run.

A game that shouldn't be this good but it's actually fucking good. You can see how much work was put into it just by the fact that they worked their ass off to make this kickass sprite artwork actually render in such limited hardware. Insane props to this game!

The babies on ropes, dark as f**k, you wouldn't have seen this kind of game on the snes.

This game was surprisingly thoughtful in the way it handled such dark and gory material, at least for a Genesis game. There's an almost Hieronymus Bosch-quality to the graphics. Like the devs are inviting you to partake in the obscene spectacle of it all. I always loved it as a kid but then, I think that was probably just my juvenile tendencies acting out more than anything.
