It's supposed to be installed as per the instructions next to the starter batt not the secondary or it won't detect the voltage drop for a long time. I have the same setup and I realise why they tell you to do this. In order for me to get it to detect the car is off even after 5min I have to turn headlights on and wait to hear the click

What would you suggest in a situation where I have a STANDARD NOT smart alternator and I want to change the battery from AGM to LiFoPO4. Everyone informs that VSR is dedicated to standard alternators and DC/DC chargers to EURO 5 OR 6. It is not often said what kind of batteries can or should not be used with VSR or DC/DC. Everything seems to be that if I buy a LiFoPO4 battery and connect it to the VSR, then this battery will blow up my alternator. So what to do in this situation and is there any reasonable solution ???

Could this charge other batterys not just leisure batterys as I have a race transporter that has 2 main batterys as the lorry runs of 24 volts for main batterys and I have a 12 volt battery that powers my winch so could I use this to work of 1 over the main lorry batterys to the split charge relay then out to my winch battery.

Helped me just fit mine in my mini camper 👍 I was wondering that because my leisure battery is fully charged, should I disconnect this when driving and reconnect when I need charging as the light still comes on when driving? Will this overcharge my new battery or should this be ok? Cheers mate

On the first page you show all the kit assembly parts and the split box is close to the vehicle battery . I have put mine in the engine compartment, does it matter as long as the wires go to the correct connector.

Did u earth ur starter battery as well I did the same as u i ran a cable to the relay ,relay to the battery and was earthed and it wasn’t charging my leisure. But then I swapped it out for a twin live and neg twin cable starter to the leisure and it worked with 5amps being drawn So why I’m asking did u earth it at the starter battery as well as the leisure If not if gone wrong somewhere

How does this power 12v sockets ?

Why don't people use a set of breaker's instead of the fuse's that way you can click the test button to break the circuit any time you choose for maintenence and its easy to rest

Why 10mm cable? You are only charging the 2nd battery not using it to start the engine! These Voltage Sensitive Relays (Split charge relay) are a pain and waste of money, they annoyingly chatter on/off when both batteries are near fully charged. I have had to replace two with standard relays.

I’m on a boat so don’t have a earth point.

I use a leisure battery for window cleaning and wondered if this would be useful for me. My battery is Yuasa 100amp and it runs 2 pumps each day (approx 5 to 6 hours) 100psi Shurflo. I rather suspect that I am drawing more power than possibly could be topped up, is this the case? Cheers. Steve.
