I just roll my yarn into a ball and half it that Way with 2 balls of yarn getting it close to the same size to half it for my crochet project I'm learning how to knit. Never bought hand dyed yarn at by anybody its very pretty.

Thank you, I love working on both socks at the same time on different needles. I started out knitting socks from the 50 gm skeins you can get at the big box stores, or even Knit Picks stroll. But I have some lovely big skeins I would like to divide up.

Thank you! I just made a yarn cozy for my Sock Week yarn, then as an afterthought considered that the two mini cozies might work better. Last time I made socks, I ran out before finishing the second one! Splitting the skein would have prevented that.

How do you take a pull center skein and make it into a cake?

Hi Natalie, I have a ball winder similar to yours except the post and metal coil is not adjustable. When I wind the yarn it’s beginning to squeak. How would you recommend that I lubricate it, and where? Also, I have an Amish swift too. If I ever feel that the wood isn’t spinning easily should I wax the middle post? What kind of wax? Any other tips on caring for a winder and swift? Thank you!
