Hi Derek - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. A very impressive machine with great knife speed. However, I would prefer a longer knife to more effectively split the larger rounds even if the that resukted in reduced speed.

@rodneysweetnam8653 Hey! Rodder! The size and price point are what makes her attractive. I'll get and post some pics of the dimensions.

Great little machine. I’m shocked how fast it is. Like other commenters, I think a foot pedal would be safer- you can free up both hands to keep the block where it’s supposed to be. I like it! Jeff

Thanks Jeff. I will be fabricating a foot control for this machine. It shouldn't be much of a job.

Great machine as soon as they incorporate a foot control I will order one!

@charger7022 It's coming. I'm going to fabricate/develop one. More videos to follow

@@dereksstuff8395 they told me directly it’s in the works from the factory. Seems like they should have had the option out of the gate.

New Sub! Looking into getting the electric version this fall. How do you like the hand operated control? Would it be better with a foot pedal?
@dereksstuff83953 күн бұрын
@@AroundTheYard-MN Thanks! I thought I'd hate the hand control, but it's alright. I am going to fabricate a foot control for this machine.

Wow it's a speedster, where is this machine manufactured it would be easy enough to put in a foot pedal.
@dereksstuff83954 күн бұрын
It's made in Ontario, Canada. I will develop a foot pedal control..... more videos to come.

Subscribed!! Very interested in this machine!! Thanks for sharing! How tall is the working table? I deal with a lot of really big tree service wood. I wonder how it would do with a really big round! (40" red oak). Probably would have to remove that guard on the front.
@dereksstuff83953 күн бұрын
@@FirewoodInTheField Thanks! The table is 32" high. They also have the option for a side shelf (to the right) If I ever got a 40" round, I'd just bust it down with my skid loader mounted splitter (home made)
@FirewoodInTheField3 күн бұрын
@dereksstuff8395 thanks! Any chance you could tell me how deep the table is? I don't have a skid steer, but if I did I'd do the same!
@dereksstuff83953 күн бұрын
@@FirewoodInTheField It is 18" deep. I just published another video explaining

Looks like it's working good! Does it look like a foot pedal could be fabricated for it? I know Splitfire says it's a safety issue but...
@dereksstuff83958 күн бұрын
It definitely could. I will fabricate one and make a video of it in action. Thanks!
@moonlightpizza27078 күн бұрын
Great machine! They should get moving on the foot pedal. Looks more dangerous with the hand lever and only one hand on the wood.
@thefirewooddoctor5 күн бұрын
Pretty sure they are going with a "knee" operates lever instead of a foot pedal. Inside info from someone getting one for review and testing purposes.
@dereksstuff83954 күн бұрын
@thefirewooddoctor I think that's true. A foot pedal is what I will be making. Should be pretty simple. All mechanical

Nice little machine, didn’t know split fire made a vertical splitter. I agree with the other comments about a foot pedal being safer, seeing your thumb wrapped around the piece to hold it up had me nervous 😂
@jameschandler27764 күн бұрын
Doesn't look like it has enough power to lift or process anything over 12- 15 in.
@dereksstuff83954 күн бұрын
@@jameschandler2776Hickory is quite heavy. I'll put a bigger piece of hickory on there tonight and make a quick video of it lifting. Thanks!
@josevelasco32454 күн бұрын
@@dereksstuff8395be careful with lifting larger rounds. That splitter only weighs 450 lbs.
@brucebaker44622 күн бұрын
Don't put you hand on top of the round that is being split you could lose your hand or some fingers for sure.
