Great video!👍 Seems there a fellow wood hound just down my road that cuts and sells boiler size firewood off his blue & yellow processor. He’s also buying logs. Hard for me to believe how much money he’s leaving on the table based on his prices. I’m tempted to buy his and run it across my super split and resell it along with my other firewood.😂.

Elaine from Canada here, those chunk-a-sauruses should fill up your boiler nicely. That one particularly nasty long log came with its own kindling fluff inside. (Or was it an ants nest?) 😳 Never seen you make a tree sandwich before either. You sure know how to work around difficult pieces, heh heh. That Axis was hardly working, and then there’s you.. If u had to rebuy a boiler would u go with a gasification boiler that Is more efficient that prefers dry wood or a conventional boiler that eats alot of wood
@ohiowoodburner
@ohiowoodburner 11 ай бұрын
very difficult question for me. Where I am now I would NOT buy another one bc I am getting old and the payoff wouldn't be recognizeable bc they are not super pricey. When I bought the Hardy it was MUCH cheaper than all the other options. I paid $5k for it and all the hookups. The Central Boilers at the time were $13k plus. I went the cheapest route bc...I'm cheap. I certainly recognize the gasifiers are much better but would I have been able to afford it at the time? Dunno. Now? No way LOL

Hi Joe, I saw on another channel guys making two modifications to an Axis: they added a vertical plate in front of the operator. This protects the operator if the wood slips in his direction under considerable force. The other change was to have an emergency shutoff switch run to easy reach of the operator. In an emergency it would take too long to run to the back of the machine to shut off thr engine.
@ohiowoodburner
@ohiowoodburner 11 ай бұрын
Yes that is Adam on hometown acres. I think the front plate isn't a big deal. It's like getting your hand burnt on the stove. It only happens once then you know what you have to do to avoid it
@rodneysweetnam8653
@rodneysweetnam8653 10 ай бұрын
Hi Paul - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. With 20 years vertical splitting experience I'm happy to advise this has never been an issue for me. However, European splitters have an angled blade with the tip nearest you being closest to the table, which means the wood is drawn backwards during splitting. I'm unsure about the value of an additional cut off switch on machines that have auto retract, which only works if the engine is on so you don't want the blade to stop. If Joe has an issue he will instinctively lift his foot off the lever and the blade will automatically retract.
