Splitting green wood vs seasoned wood: sycamore

I believe sycamore is a perfect example of how much of a difference it makes when splitting wood green or seasoned. The difference can be significant. More so with this wood than any I have ever came across yet. But I have found that wood usually splits easier when seasoned, at least in most of the wood I have split, personally. Be safe and God bless!

That sycamore wood reminded me of how tuff that sweet gum I was trying to split on one of my videos. I think I've mentioned this on some of your other videos but the use of your feet and foot work is awesome. Great video Dillon......👍🤙

im blessed enough to be a year a head on my wood now. it nice to stack rounds for next year and not need to split it until it is seasoned. seasoned wood splits so much better. great video man. Bless you

That is a blessing indeed my friend! That’s the way to go, in my opinion. Being ahead like that gives you peace of mind and it’s a beautiful sight to see the firewood stock as well! I agree, it makes a huge difference when the wood is seasoned. May God bless you and your loved ones as well and it’s good to hear from you 🙏

Hello Anthony! Thank you for the kind words! I didn’t get to go as in depth as I wanted to here with some of the things that I’ve learned along the way with hand splitting. But tomorrow I plan to show more with some maple that I have to split. A lot of it. God bless you and your loved ones as well and its good to hear from you 🙏

I have one had Sycamore once, and man, that stuff just wouldn't split, so before I had hydraulics, I used the chainsaw and noodle every bit of it.

I don’t blame you at all, Daniel! That was a wise move. If it’s green, ripping it or hydraulics is the way to go, in my opinion 👍 its good to hear from you sir and I hope you and your family have a blessed winter 🙏
