@Jimmy Fargot You do realize that RG's asphalt didn't fail right? Asphalt doesn't span a void by itself, and with the broken drainage pipe washing the earth out from underneath of it that's exactly what it was trying to do.
@markf6930
@markf6930 3 жыл бұрын
Dealt with this before. If possible I would recommend having a Vac Truck come in and clean the line and then if the line is straight dig a trench on one end long enough to allow you to slide pvc pipe inside and effectively reline the old steel pipe with pvc. Then all you do is grout the pvc to the drain inlets and you have a waterproof pipe under the track and no more wash outs and sink holes. Way better than cutting the asphalt and digging up that old pipe. Cheaper too!
@FernandoHernandez-zc1xu
@FernandoHernandez-zc1xu 3 жыл бұрын
I think what you’re referring to is known as “slip lining”. I work with a company that specializes in trench less tech. If you ask me PVC is NOT what you need. Fused HDPE of a smaller diameter might work better. Good luck Cleetus ! Can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s all done.
@taylorking715
@taylorking715 3 жыл бұрын
What it needs is a cementitous lining. I have re-lined 1,000s of feet of rusty corrugated storm pipe with a high strength fiber reinforced concrete. No digging required. Slip lining PVC would require a big pit to be excavated on each run. HDPE pipe is too thick and you would lose a bunch of flow volume. And you would still have some small amount of annular space between the old and new pipe. So minor sinkholes can still pop up until the space is filled.

I pretty much said this back when they talked about this. There is always going to be sink hole on that track because it has so many cracks and micro cracks that they just need to inspect all drains and pipes going under the track and then mill the entire thing and lay brand new asphalt down. Taking care to seal the track at the wall and then line the back side of the track and cover with rocks so that water can not fill in behind it. Though I do not know how deep the walls go in to the ground from the grass grade to the outside grade. If the walls are deeper than the in field then you should be fine and do not need to line behind the walls. Yet I do think they are back filled with dirt.. Water intrusion is killing and making that track age even more. As you can tell from all the weeds at the start. Though I would have opted if there was enough money to destroy the entire track and infield and build it out all brand new with every thing updated. The grass is nice yet the option on a full bowl of concrete leaves many more options along with using k rails for setting up tracks. The option would and could have lead to circle track, drifting, street cars, small karts, F1, monster trucks, Dirt bikes, and a number of other kinds of racing. Yes dirt can be applied to the infield and removed when events are over. This is how they do big stadiums.

As the owner of a home, cleanest something I learned a long time ago is to do it right the first time. It's probably going to cost more, it hurts more upfront, but it means you aren't coming back to it very often, you've done it right, and it's a good for many many years. Do it right the first time. Otherwise you do it 10 times.

They might be saving for a day they got no content ideas and you know James isn't prepared to run a mile or however far 5 laps around the track would be. They both should run it together for keeping us waiting. Basically blow up a fiberglass balloon inside the old pipe and heat it to cure in place, Pretty cool Operation actually. Just mill the entire track, sell the reclaim to recoup some of the costs for the new asphalt, fix any failures once it's milled, and then bring in 2 spreaders to get a seamless track. You'll thank yourself later. Every crack you have in the asphalt is allowing moisture in and softening your base structure. Be glad you don't have to deal with frost. That track would be done after 1 winter.

@tennisontower8003
@tennisontower8003 3 жыл бұрын
@@strangefruit8776 The problem is that these are not new drain pipes. They are the originals from over 50 years ago, that have been cleaned out for reuse. I think they put in new pipe ends, the junctions boxes, so they can be better cleaned out, but the pipes connecting them, if im not mistaken, are the ones that were buried when the track was built. And maybe the new ones have a lifespan that long, but I doubt that the pipes from the 70s had that high of a lifespan, granted Im just guessing here. And considering they have already had a problem, im going to have to agree with OP that they should be prematurely patched, or replaced worse case, to prevent more issues. Besides, I dont think there was a pinpointable reason why this hole appeared, therefore any number of holes could open up overtime. Who knows, maybe there are already more holes in them as we speak, and there are more spots of the track/lawn waiting to collapse.
@strangefruit8776
@strangefruit8776 3 жыл бұрын
@@tennisontower8003 rpc hasn’t really changed much over the years. I could see doing what they discussed just so they don’t have to tear up the pavement again but they aren’t really out anything if it gets a leak in the grass area where it’s not compromising a structure. The only thing I’ve seen that they’ve done with the storm drain is tie in some drains into what was already there and clean out the ditch draining the property. He didn’t sound too thrilled about having to pay for what he he had to just to fix the track so I doubt he’s interested in biting off that much more especially while he’s redoing all the concessions and everything else that needs attention right now. I think he’s doing really good financially from the outside looking in but I’m sure he’s probably looking to get a little more return out of it before he goes completely balls out fixing everything.
