When you see a homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk, or under a bridge, do you ever wonder how their lives ended up this way? Or where they originally came from?

Right. But they have enough to buy drugs and alcohol every....single....day. Any one of these people could go to AA meetings to get clean and find a place to stay. But they refuse to go. Why? Hell there is even free coffee and cookies at every meeting. But they refuse to go. My point is that you cant force these people to get off the streets.

low paying jobs?? or low skill levels?? pretty sure there's plenty of living wage jobs. by these peoples teeth and crazy eyes I can tell that drugs are their problem. and have been for some time. stop blaming the wrong thing if you honestly want to help. otherwise you're an enabler.

I really think a distinction needs to be made with folks who are genuinely homeless and those that are drug addicts and refuse help. They would rather camp out, trash the place and take drugs than go to a shelter. Why? They don't like rules. They want to freely use their drugs and be left alone to do it. I've watched our neighborhood in the Gonzaga neighborhood go completely downhill over the past 5 years from the drug addicts and criminals. 'Homeless' folks want help and a way out of their predicament. Drug addicts or 'Bums' are petty selfish criminals who want to live their lifestyle without the inconvenience of having to cooperate and live peacefully and cleanly with their fellow man.

I don’t like how the seem to just trash areas but humans should be able to put in their body whatever they want. And a lot of these laws against drugs are dumb af

I use to think like this also I grew up in spokane when I was 15 I was lucky enough to get a job. I remember my dad picking me up from work one day which right there is a blessing to have him do that for me. I saw a homeless kid looked like he was on drugs begging for money. I was like what the hell is he doing out there he can work just like I do. My dad looked at me and said “ you have no idea what that kids been through in his life and you should never judge someone even if their on drugs because you don’t know what led up to that”. Changed my whole outlook in 15 seconds. I then moved to SoCal when I was 20 and was homeless well living at a hotel for over a year not because of drugs I didn’t even drink. Just was so hard to get into a place even with money. One day I got in a huge fight with my BF and I left the room crying. I was out sitting on the curb crying my eyes out. I went to go use the pay phone. Since they still had those to call my family back in spokane. I ran out of money and this homeless man came up to me and gave me $3.50 in change and said here I think you need this more then I do right now. Point of stories are we never know anyone’s story we should just be grateful ours turned out better then the ones homeless hurt and addicted to drugs. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

@@loveconquersall4094 You will see Humanity in much different ways if you spend any time out on that sidewalk, mostly good but some bad just what it is man. You gotta kick down the kick downs thats just what it is. Riding Freight trains and just having random people give me $100 I made sure to kick a portion of that down to the next one and be respectful.

My husband has always worked. When Itronix laid off 300 people, including my husband, he looked for a job for 2 years and didn’t give up. He was 51 years old at that time and it seems a lot businesses don't like to hire people over 50. My husband never lost hope and he kept a roof over our heads. Perhaps thats the key in tough situations to never give up hope.

They should build homeless stations where homeless people can get out of the heat in summer and get out of cold in winter all over spokane not just down town , and then build tiny houseing that homeless people can afford all over spokane wa. Not all homeless people are on drugs or alchohol , and then they should put homeless people who are dependant on drugs or alchohol in reabilitational house where they can detox and work in thier own private community of sorts , , in fact building cooling stations would be good for even those who are not homeless also in spokane , please use some of my ideas , lady fowler

We don't have a homeless problem. We have an addiction problem. Lack of income is another factor that goes with that.

Spokane County has the two most low income zip codes in Washington . It is not often talked about but it is true, and sad. Good people exist though and want to help. Union Gospel Mission also may have resources if you know someone in need.

We're the biggest city with the most resources for hundreds of miles. ALSO, this started (probably) 100yrs ago bc Spokane is a railroad hub. Spokane has a big reputation amongst the drug addicted homeless as the easiest place to maintain the lifestyle bc of how much is given with no expection of the persons cooperation/participation in the difficult changes required to get out of the lifestyle & become functional & contribute to society...or at least contribute to themselves. In other words- "Go to Spokane where the enabling is the most abundant, by far".
