As SpongeBob's "legacy" on the Game Boy Advance was coming to an end, and the Nintendo DS was beginning its own, well, it was time to bring the spongey wonder to the hot, new two-screened console! 9 SpongeBob Squarepants games released on the Nintendo DS over the course of its life...and now it's time to talk about them.

Altron was basically the Heavy Irons Studios of SpongeBob DS games being a company that usually does licensed games like their Phineas and Ferb game along with the 2nd dimension DS game, but most if not all of their games have been really great.

@@ChampionofShadowsAE I was really hyped when was announced, but I started to get worried once gameplay started being shown. Got it on launch day anyway, and absolutely hated it. I'm still really upset that the first new game in 11 years was basically a barely functional mobile game that was quickly ported to consoles.

I'm amazed Drawn To Life: SpongeBob doesn't end with a reveal that the events of the game were a dying dream by a cancer-stricken 5 year old who loves Nickelodeon and the last thing he sees is SpongeBob waving solemnly in a white void. If you think this sounds out of left field and unprompted, I envy you for not knowing the things I do about Drawn To Life.

Yeah the drawn to life ending was dark. Till “two realms” came out. It’s the recent drawn to life game and said JK everyone is A-Ok living in a separate dream world ala kingdom hearts DDD and Wilfre wasted his life. Edit: Except Mikes parents there still dead because it follows up the original ending, but Heather’s face is healed.

What I really liked about Altron's games is the music. Such unforgettable good music and yet so unknown. I especially can't get the "Moon Surface" Music from Drawn to Life out of my head! :)

1:19 To be fair, Warioware games story modes usually only take about an hour or 2 to finish. 5:30 I've never seen a game raise so many red flags in a single sentence. 9:20 A games series suddenly getting a cartoon crossover for the new entry is a really weird thing.

Man, I have so many memories of playing Atlantis Squarepantis. It was a really fun game. I played it a lot. When I beat the game for the first time and saw that i could play the game again as Squidward, I was so happy.

Been watching this Spongebob retrospective journey since the OG BFBB video. And my gosh, I never realized just how many Spongebob games there were...and also how many of them were rough compared to how many good ones there are. But I guess we have Rehydrated, and now Cosmic Shake, to thank for this! What an amazing series of videos (that were filled with references) these turned out to be!

Just from the fact that the 2010's output of Spongebob games were mediocre at best showcased just how much the series had lost most of its charm. Spongebob games from the first game during the early 2000's to the late 2000s showcased just how good the licensed tie ins could be even during its first post movie missteps. In spite of the few road bumps along the way

Fun Fact! Not sure if any other versions had this but the Psp version of Truth or Square actually had 3 minigames you could play in the main menu. The first was a bumper cart style game where you drive around trying to catch jellyfish and the person with the most at the end wins. The 2nd was literally just straight up hockey, and as someone who is literally a stick figure and doesn't give a shit about sports, it was actually super damn fun. The 3rd game though, was literally a Worms styled game but with Spongebob characters. I remember spending hours playing that minigame and it was so damn fun.

Creature From The Krusty Krab was also on PC as a game called "Nighty Nightmare". It did not exactly follow the same notes as the former, if I recall, but most levels were shared, except in NN, you play from a top-down perspective. If you feel up for it, why not give some of the Downloadable PC games a try? Things like Krabby Quest, Operation Krabby Patty, Battle For Bikini Bottom (this one is not what you think it is.), Truth or Square (also not what you think it is), etc...

While there was (probably) no spongebob DS covers or anything like that, the Yellow Avenger game came in a pack with a blue lanyard and a charging cable with two different heads (One fits the DS, one fits the 3DS oddly enough) with spongebob's eyes painted on them....and also an eye on the part you plug the cable into, as well making it look like spongebob's got a 3rd eye we don't know or want to know about. I know this, because I had it and still use the charging cable to this day because it's trusty and can suffer a *lot* of abuse aparently.

I’m so glad Ant covered my childhood game of Spongebob Drawn To Life. A game I never completed or got far into but the amount of time I drew characters and drew stuff was a blast

Niiiice the SpongeBob finally I'm actually so curious to check out the 3 games you rated the highest. I've always loved the idea of 3d platformers on the ds but I've never played anything outside of Mario 64 DS which I didn't care for because the original is just better, but yeah!

i have been waiting for this video my whole life, i played at least half of these ds games as a kid, remember it took me a entire year to get past the 4th level in the creature from the Krusty krab

This series of videos indeed proves that the idea of adapting one media to another isn't really all that bad of an idea, but is unfortunately seen that way due to its long-term controversial reputation due to there being more blemishes compared to successes. But luckily as people we learn, adapt, and evolve from past mistakes and experiences to be better. And that seems to be a true case with the Spongebob Francise as with not only "Battle for Bikini Bottom", but also the next big console videogame coming out soon as of typing. I honestly found it depressing. Wanna know why. At this point what I want to have happen to and feel about Sonic can be described by the lyrics to The Living Tombstone's FNAF 3 song Die In A Fire. If ya wanna know why remember what's happened to Sonic over the past few years and listen to the actual song. You'll probably understand where I'm coming from at the end of the experience.

Because the Switch is both a handheld and home console, I think that’s why we didn’t get the 4DS (another sequel to the 3DS)… yet.

When most of the other people that I used to watch stuff like this moving on to other formats and such, I'm so thankful Ant Dude is still going strong.
