Uh no. The song was from the SB Movie's credits and because of "how good it was", they decided to make it an episode in honor of it, it was just like a forced episode, they didn't get any plot at all that's why it was so average

Honestly The Best Day Ever wasn’t that good. I’m not saying it was trash but it just felt so bland. To think the hype was big for this episode, I’m pretty sure a lot of people were upset that this episode didn’t reach its expectations.

I actually liked this episode back when it came out. It was good for what it was and it was satisfying that at the end spongebob actually got what he wanted which was to spend time with all his friends. Also since I lived in another country when this came out it wasn’t as overhyped but still had the marathon of episodes. I think Nickelodeon was mostly relying on the song to be popular and in some way it worked for them.

That was the time when it was realized this new Spongebob that came after the first movie was not the show we knew before (in my opinion). I have read that Steven Hillenburg, the creator of Spongebob, wanted Nickelodeon to make The Spongebob Squarepants Movie the series finale. There comes a time when TV shows need to end and as much as I love Spongebob, it's no exception. After seeing how more seasons and/or episodes of a show doesn't always mean success for a show, I realize now that TV shows were meant to last for a certain time and will eventually leave just for the creations that were inspired by it to take its place. I think if Nickelodeon made the right decision to be more creator-friendly and let Steven Hillenburg end his show on his terms, Nickelodeon could have a better reputation. Also, I was surprised of how overly-hyped Nickelodeon wanted their fans to get for this one episode of Spongebob. I would like creators and channels to promote their content more honestly. Still enough to get people interested but not to over do it where people get the wrong idea and could be disappointed.

I disagree with the point of view most reviewers have about it. The complaint everyone has is that the promotion raised their expectations more than what it offered and no one talks about the goods and bads of the episode. As a simple episode(and I view it as just that) it's one of my favourites. The jokes, while only a few, hit bullseyes which is extremely rare for post movie spongebob, the plot was well put out , the song is one of the best songs of the whole show and the ending was just heartwarming. It's one of the few times we had all the main characters gathered up and be in their original characters before the dark era began. Judge something on what it is , not what you expect it to be

I remember Atlantis Squarepantis being really overhyped too, it got a game and everything then the episode came and went but at least it was 30 minutes but despite being longer the pacing felt rushed, it really says something when the game was better than the episode itself.

I can remember watching this episode live along with the marathon when i was much younger due to the hype and promotion, and being very disappointed with the episode back then. I still don’t get why the episode was only 11 minutes and just had a bland spongebob plot, this whole idea could’ve had potential, but this whole thing could show that nick didn’t put as much effort into it as you’d think

I'm certain they over-promoted it because essentially, the episode's title/main song comes from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, from 2004, and that movie, along with its soundtrack were pretty big hits.

I was like only two when the marathon happened but I do remember seeing the reruns and loving the song. I still remember thr lyrics cause I loved it that much. I don't think I ever really paid that much attention to the actual story

when this episode premiered, my sister and i were both wondering what the hell just happened. it was mostly just spongebob singing the same song in short bursts. the best laugh we got out of the whole thing was when the episode was over and they cut back to patchy with a bunch of kids on the cruise. the kids all looked disappointed if not pissed off and patchy had a sort of "oh shit, this all went horribly wrong and i need to disappear" look in his face and tone in his voice as he nervously gave his farewell to the event.

Best Day Ever lasted for 100 episodes. The top 5 would have been classic episodes, but instead, the top 5 was season 4 episodes. Number 1 was Karate Island.

This episode didn't get any promotion in The Netherlands. Moreover, it didn't get aired along with the rest of the season it was part of. It was aired years later for some reason. It's quite unknown here in comparison to other episodes.

The voting was based on clicks of clips that were on nicks website. Also there was a glitch during the broadcast that caused episodes to get replayed and skipped.

I remember that this song first appeared in the Spongebob Movie end credits. I loved the song, and to have a whole episode revolve around it had me excited, but the plot was so generic and bland. I think the main reason we all watched it was because of the song, and Nick used that as the main tool for promotion to capitalize on our nostalgia for the Spongebob Movie

I remember being a kid they literally had that giant marathon ending off with the movie. I was so exited to see this new episode... I finish the movie then the episode finally came on. I watched it and I said out loud *"I watched this whole thing for a fucking musical"*

This is not the only example. Do you guys remember the episode 'Spongebob Longpants', if you do, that means you might remember all of the advertising for it. It was being advertised as the best Spongebob episode in years. But in reality, it was only 11 minutes, and wasn't that good. There was another episode called 'Lost in Bikini Bottom' that was also only 11 minutes, wasn't that great. But it was advertised everywhere.

3:52 I have that book. Also, I didn’t watch spongebob when the episode came out, but when I did like spongebob, I LOVED this episode. I wasn’t old enough to remember the promos, though I guess I just liked the episode.

Squid Noir got a lot of promotion and it turned out really good and is my second favorite episode of all time. (Right behind Sacvengerpants, it’s sister episode)

OMG I remember this marathon and I used to watch this all the time throughout the 2 day span. True this episode was only 11 minutes but, come on Spongebob is the mascot of Nickelodeon they have to try to do a thing like Truth or Square to make it either a half hour episode or a hour long episode.
