SpongeBob SquarePants has continued to surprise us and make us laugh in every episode. With references to The Beatles, E.T., Bruce Lee and so many more movies, we just had to put together a list of some of our favorites! So this is SpongeBob SquarePants references YOU missed!

When Plankton goes to jail in the episode "Jailbreak!" he is given the prisoner number 6554321. The number being the same as Alex Delarge's in A Clockwork Orange.

@@linusovery-smith4246 I actually have a story about it; when I was 13 I got home from musical practice and I was pretty hyped because I'd been (after insisting for ages) allowed to see a clockwork orange with my mother. We had dinner and SpongeBob was on, although I didn't like the newer seasons I kept it in the background as we ate. It was the jailbreak episode. Later, as I watched the movie, I immediately caught the number being the same as I'd literally just heard it. Pure coincidence. Kind of eerie. Edit. Also the number is 655321 in the movie as well, I think the original poster of this comment simply mistyped

2 things you missed. 1.) The giant clam is a Jaws reference, it even plays the jaws theme. 2.) In the new Spongebob movie, Sponge Out of Water, while Plankton is in Spongebob's brain the two twin Popsicles are a reference to The Shining.

I remember reading on the SpongeBob wiki that the movements he does when he loses his star in New Student Starfish (shaking in his chair, head spinning, eyes rolling upward) are a reference/parody of The Exorcist.

If you think about it, the episode “pineapple fever” is a similar Lord of the Flies reference too. The characters are forced to stay in the same place for a while and eventually descend into madness and chaos.

There was a Jaws reference in the Giant Worm episode. When everyone was discussing how to get rid of the worm at the Krusty Krab and old man scratched the chalkboard just like Quint did in Jaws.

What about: - The episode "Clams" being a literal parody of Jaws. - The episode "Spongebob, Sandy, and The Worm" spoofing both Tremors and Jaws. - "A Pal For Gary" being a reference to Gremlins with the transforming Puffy Fluffy and the pet keeper lady.

The episode where they got stuck at that Jail instead of summer camp was a Full Metal Jacket reference. The actor from the film even made a voice appearance in the episode.

There's a small reference that you missed. In Sponge Out of Water, when Plankton and Spongebob are in the bubble trying to float away, Spongebob tries to get Plankton to say "teamwork". Plankton fails over and over again, saying things like "tee-am work" and other things. Eventually, he says "Timebomb work", referencing the line in "The Avengers" when Bruce Banner/Hulk says "We aren't a team. We're a timebomb."

"Mind your wandering eye, you little mollusk." Reference to the song The Mollusk by the band Ween, who's album, The Mollusk, helped inspire the creation of the show. They also wrote the Loop dee Loop song.

I forgot which episode it was, but Mr. Krabs was talking to Spongebob about something and introduces his three nephews that would each finish each others sentences. This was a reference to the Popeye the sailor's nephews.

A lot of people already mentioned the episode "Clams" but in the Alaskan Bull Worm Episode there's yet another reference to "Jaws." It happens when everyone in the Krusty Krab is arguing about what they're going to do to get rid of the worm and then, to get their attention, a fisherman character scratches the window to get everyone to shut up, this is a reference to the scene in "Jaws" where Quint scratches the chalkboard in the town hall to make everyone quiet. Also in the episode "Doing Time" when Spongebob and Mrs. Puff crash into the prison during his driving test you see a bunch of police cars crash behind them in a comedic fashion, this was a reference to "The Blues Brothers (1980)" when all the police cars crash into a big pile during the case scene near the end of the film.

Twisted sisters song I wanna rock in the spongebob movie. Pablo Picasso in the episode Fiassco. Snakes and Ladders in the episode Sailor Mouth. Ronald McDonald and the Hamburgular in the episode Krabby Land. Invasion of the body snatchers in The planet of the jellyfish. The Blob in the episode The krabby patty that ate bikini bottom.

In the newer movie, they reference Mad Max when they announce they're all out of Krabby Pattys on the news, Mr. Krabs says, "I hope you like leather." In which as he says that, the people of Bikini Bottom all simultaneously reappear in Mad Max style clothing due to the rugged and stereotypical post-apocalypic appearance of the clothes

Yes. In The episode perfect chemistry Sandy and plankton put a helmet on spongebob to do an experiment on him. However during the experiment Spongebob says "Who turned out the lights?" Which is known to be a direct line from doctor who.

In Texas, Before chasing Spongebob and Patrick, Sandy says "You all best apologize, or i'm gonna be on you like ugly on an ape!" It's similar to a quote said in Jimmy James season 5 episode 8, where jimmy says " If you don't quit that stuff, i'll be on you like ugly on an ape."

In the episode My Pretty Seahorse, Spongebob imagines himself with long red hair, riding Mystery. This reference is from The Little Mermaid the t.v. series episode Stormy. In that episode Ariel is riding a seahorse named Stormy.
