After talking with pros and RLCS coaches and even playing with pros, I've learned a lot about what it takes to hit SSL (even if I haven't hit it.) Here are the 3 most important things you NEED to have in order to hit SSL in Rocket League.

How I got here…
🔹12 yrs old: Started uploading minecraft videos at / @luke23mc
🔹16 yrs old: Switched to uploading Fortnite videos on this channel. You can go to my uploads sort oldest to newest to see all of my old Fortnite videos
🔹18 yrs old: Switched from Fortnite to Rocket League videos during Covid. I also began coaching players 1-on-1 on / spookluke
🔹19 yrs old: Rocket League went free to play and my channel blew up. To keep up with the demand for coaching, started the Grand Champ Roadmap --a rocket league course business
🔹20 yrs old: Developed company and continued to scale course business. Eventually, I dropped out of school to pursue KZfaq and the company full-time.
🔹21 yrs old: Switched from selling courses to coaching only. Released all courses for free on www.skool.com/gcb-free/about. Transformed GCR into GCB. Doubled coaching duration, cut price in half. Seeing results improve and students happier was worth making less money.
🔹22 yrs old: @Virge joined as director of coaching to further improve the coaching experience and help us make more free Rocket league content that is accessible to everyone.
Today: Coaching is how we make our money - not youtube videos or courses.

Just sucks to not have the hours available to me to stay GC1. Floating between C3 and low GC1 but when I get the hours past two weeks I'm easily mid to high GC1.

by being the one that doesnt miss so many saves and open nets and can cover for your teammates mistakes when you go back to team modes. It allows you to be the defensive rock and a playmaker.

Bruh 2.7k hours and D3 wtf ru doing lmao, I know GC2s with like 2k hours, just train mechs in free play so you aren’t a bot in ranked, focus on defence, and learn to shoot and flick it’s really simple.

well i think when u have gc3 that's very good why? cuz on ranked games u find any proplayer like squishy , monkeymoon , for me it's doesn't matter if u have gc3 or ssl , gc3 and ssl its the same rank

Probably. Just hit the ball hard in 3s and 2s and play passive.

Just practice basic rotations and defense. If you have the offensive skills to be platinum in 1s you'll have an easy time in 2s and 3s. Being able to outplay your opponents in the lower ranks is definitely a game-changer, but you need to know when you can and when you can't go for the ball.

Some times playing 2s and 3s you just gotta let your teammates do their thing and fill in where you're needed. Cover their mistakes and try not to overcommit is one play style that is viable. If youre gold, being too fast isn't really a thing unless you're just making a lot of mistakes because you aren't handling your own speed properly
