"De jonge West-Vlamingen hebben zichzelf overtroffen met een muzikale prestatie van formaat", schreef De Standaard na het ijzersterke optreden van Steak Number Eight op Graspop. Eerder dit jaar verscheen het derde album van de groep via de Noorse platenfirma Indie Records. 'The Hutch' is een moddervette, trippende kluif met heartfelt (doom)melodieën en heavy riffs die er, met zin voor de sludge-atmosfeer, goed inbeuken. Op vraag van Spoor 8 speelde Steak Number Eight een sessie in De Deugdzonde, een B&B op het plattenland van Sint-Denijs. "Het klinkt wat meer lo-fi, puur ook. Maar wees gerust, onze wall of sound is er nog steeds", aldus zanger Brent Vanneste in een interview met Humo.

I remember when the debut album was given in a copy of metal hammer. Been listening to these guys ever since. Great band.

I have no idea what anyone here is saying, but damn this is some great music! I wish these guys would come over where I live in Maine some day. More people need to hear these guys because they are some very talented youngsters!

"The West-Flemish [region in Belgium] youngsters have proven their talent yet again with a stunning musical performance", wrote De Standaard [popular Belgian newspaper] after the gig off Steak Number Eight at Graspop [music festival]. Their third record was published earlier this year by the Norse record company Indie Records. 'The Hutch' is a fatass, tripping chunk with some heartfelt (doom) melodies and heavy riffs, who really kick ass with sense for the sludge-atmosphere. They played a session in De Deugdzonde (a B&B in the countryside off Sint-Denijs) as a request by Spoor 8 [Ghent music initiative]. "It sounds a bit more lo-fi and also pure. But rest assured, our wall of sound is still there", said vocalist Brent Vanneste in an interview with Humo [Belgian magazine]. That's what the description says.

If anyone could properly translate what he said after push/pull in the interview i would love you forever.

So I'm probably missing some stuff, but he's saying Push/Pull is one of his favorites from the record. He wrote it in Minorca when he was travelling there by himself. Minorca was also the first title for the song because of that. He wrote the melody for the song there and then didn't do anything with it for a really long time, until he finally picked it up and wrote the whole song in one night. He also says he loves the fact that there's not much singing in it, only at the end and he likes the fact that there's a lot of melody in the song, even during the heavier parts.
