Don't find a lot of guys like him that would take that 60% offer but then again you don't see guys like you and you're partners going to a show to buy out a single tables inventory. I know a lot of people hate on your for your takes on the hobby, but this should show them that you aren't a fool and know what you are doing!! Well the thing about investing is that it’s a lot easier if you buy things at 60-70% of value. Lots of people try “investing” with speculation and that’s not the best way to do it

Cash is king but I would probably offer him about 50% and see where he was at. Because some of them, high in cards might not be high in cards in a month. It's a gamble.

It'll take years to move those cards. Tying up that much money for that long is a bad investment.

That’s a nice extra 10% of profit, giving you an extra 10k for your store. That’s a nice buy Geof. If you broke that down to 5 - $20,000 lots, you would of had to pay 70% of comps. Maybe even 15k per 20k.

From the small sample size shown, it looks like Dan's stickers were much higher than comps....which is normal at a show. Offering 60% is probably very close to 100% of the true market value.

I was at the show and stopped over there and was wondering what was going on with all of the empty display cases

I think you're making a big mistake on buying these huge lots. You're buying cards that are going down nearly everyday. 60% comps today is a good deal. But before too long most cards will be selling for less than that its inevitable. So unless you resell the stuff asap you wont make much profit. You will get stuck holding a lot of that inventory. It will take quite awhile just to get back what you initially paid. Thats a lot of work. Now is not the ideal time to open a shop.

So I’m assuming they will give him a form 1099 for the $60k

Sry Geoff but, u guys just got hosed Those $500+ cards are almost all older, & almost all are older sells All of those $500+ old sale comps, won’t even fetch half of that now. Not joking when I say this, you might have 30k of cards there. Tons of $500+ older cards won’t sell anytime soon. Sry love you & ur channel but, max 40k of cards there & that’s being extremely generous I seriously recommend people should not buy tons of single cards right now, especially $500+, the market is correct itself every day. Those older $500+ cards that haven’t sold for 8-10months+, prob coudont even get half of that now. Should of offered 20-30k max. Man hope I’m wrong but, just not looking good. & tbh, don’t trust those younger guys. They don’t understand the market/cards like you do. They’re too young/naive to understand this. Imo you should be the only person making giant Inventory buys. Sports card marketing is dying, you guys need to supplement with Pokémon & other stuff cuz, purely sports cards you guys won’t survive

Why are you buying at 70% comps in a declining market at shows? Will you continue to buy at 70% when you open the store? Why not wait and let people BRING you cards at your store, sell for cash and I bet some of that cash is spent at your new store. Buying at shows seems counterproductive.

Personally, I would have gone through more comps on a lot of the cards. If one card has crazy prices 100% his prices on others were insanely priced too. I personally believe a deal of this magnitude should have taken a lot longer
