I feel that’s one of the best things about snooker, the sportsmanship. Even down the club playing against a mate nearly all Players would call the foul on themselves. Walden v Murphy was good.

Don't really watch snooker but can any advantage be gained from calling a foul on yourself... sometimes it looks as though they wait to see the outcome of the shot before they call a foul on themselves.
@rcrawle
@rcrawle 7 жыл бұрын
No, your opponent has the option of either taking his shot or making you play again. Also, the other player can just foul right back and then you'd be in the same position. However, if there is a stalemate position where both players would rather foul than attempt a legitimate shot, then the frame is started again - this is so rare, I'd doubt you'd find more than a handful of videos on youtube where it occurs; I've never seen it happen in several years of playing league.

After watching this again for the umpteenth time i have concluded that Alan Chamberlain was a knob. And i would have hated to have him as my father. He did a number of dickish moves in snooker. Where common sense went out the window. Not a patch on any of the other referees anyway. Verhass, Collier, Tabb, Eckardt, Scullion, Chamberlain, Anatasziya etc. All far better than him.

Just because you could have gotten away with it, doesn't make it less/more of a cheat. If you know you fouled - then not owning up to it is literally cheating. It's the dictionary definition of cheating!

@thesteve120 7 жыл бұрын
Actually I believe within the rules of most tournament games you aren't obligated to call your own fouls. Even if this wasn't the case its still good sportsmanship relative to other sports where there is far more of what you would describe as cheating.
@sdewey4152
@sdewey4152 7 жыл бұрын
splashparis You say not admitting to it would be cheating, but if you've got a job and have an interview, if your employer finds out......yeah, honesty is amazing in theory but greedy, dishonest bastards will always make any sense of logic seem foolish for their own gain. I saw something on television the other day, somebody who was meant to be in a position of some importance (can't remember who) but she said something along the lines of. I pride myself on my honesty, but I'm not going to be forthcoming with any information that may be of detriment to myself. After hearing this i laughed, what a morally retarded individual.

These new zoomer players do this on purpose on a shot that isnt important. Zoomers need to be thought of highly and when they dont get enough attention its time for a tv moment to show all the viewers just how fair they are. Its fake. Its theatre for them. You wont see it happen on a crucial shot thats for sure. As long as the zoomer has people talking good about them they can feel useful.
