Coming from a non Leafs fan, this should be his final interview as a Leaf. Such an out of touch comment, and it would be the ultimate way to end his “legacy” as a Leaf. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out bud.

He was flat footed against Pasta, BUT it was Fkn Reily doing almost nothing on a play that could end his fkn career! It was Reily as a defenceman. Even Sammy was playing the short side and/pr pass from pasta because the DEFENCEMAN should do something, even take the penalty. Reguardless of ANY of that, Boston would have and Should have won that series. Leafs did the bare minimum the last 10 games they played, and 52Million got piss all done... as usual. I just had to laugh when he said they were looked upon as gods by the leaf fan base. You talk about being so full of himself. He is a god only in his mind because I look at him as a lazy coward who is too afraid of taking or giving a hit. He was pathetic with regard to the winning goal in OT by Pastranak. He made no attempt whatsoever to catch Pasta before he could get to the net. He came rolling in after Pasta had scored and was already on his way to celebrate. Mitch Mariner has and never will be the player Knies is going to be. I admire Knies’ intensity he brings to the game, his skill level for being so young and he isn’t afraid to mix it up with anyone in an attempt to make a scoring play. Knies is going to be a star in the NHL and that is a fact. Enough of this we can get it done with these four core players. They couldn’t win a cup if the opposition never put a goaltender in their net and gave the leafs’ goaltender a sheet of plywood to stop the puck. 53% of the salary cap gone to these four players who only give 10% in the playoffs.

Bruins fan here. Gotta say was impressed with most of the Leafs this series but understand the constant disappointment. That being said, Marner is your classic very talented yet Uber soft player who frankly doesn’t seem to care all that much about losing. Hard part about trading him (outside of the NTC) is he is viewed as soft in the rest of the league so you won’t get anywhere near equal value. Pretty clear that he is not a “winner”.

Why does Marner got to be so whiney about everything. That demeanour shows on the ice and bench. “The Stanley cup is the hardest trophy to win for a reason”… good attempt to excuse the trend of many years passed that is a lack of compete in the post season, and an undeniable hunger to win and excel. Great players rise up when the stakes are high. Imagine Hyman was in Toronto in place of Marner at half the cap hit. Though the leafs mismanagement probably would have buried Hyman in the minors or on the 4th line. Or if the leafs had better scouting and would have held onto Verhaeghe.

He is way too cozy and complacent… it’s as if he believes losing in the playoffs is just an inevitable natural fact of life. It’s like he goes into autopilot during the finals, and his autopilot has been conditioned to accept that winning the cup is simply not meant to be… I don’t think Mitch is a bad guy, and he’s obviously not a bad player - that’s what makes this so difficult, but I think his subconscious expects to lose at this point and I think the only way to factory reset him is to start over with a new team. When you start believing that you’re “a God” in your city, but you routinely fall short of “God-like” results, it’s time to ship out… if he wasn’t receiving such an insane salary it wouldn’t matter as much, but 8 figure salaries should come with 8 points per series (at least).

The last 3 games were close. Everybody just needs to calm down a bit, stop blame. Why don't you show your beef by not buying merchandise, cable TV, and going out to sports bars. Stop hangout when games are played. But you can't cause you got nothing better to do that's why.
