For many, buying and driving an RC car modeled after a real car is a way to get some type of experience with something of interest. I have a Tamiya Porsche GT3 in my collection that I cherish because I want the real car but will probably never get the chance to own one. A lot of Tamiya’s RC models are perfect for this purpose and if you are a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia fan, this latest release from Tamiya will be right up your alley! The Tamiya Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is based on the M06L RR platform so it’s a smaller sedan, but still a ton of fun to drive. Like nearly most of Tamiya’s RC cars nowadays, the VW is a kit that you build and detail, perfect for those who love the modeling aspect of the hobby. We built and painted ours over the past few weeks and are now ready to show it off. We’ll give you the details about this exciting RC car in our full review which of course includes action and our performance thoughts as well.

Just to let you know. They aren't actually Phillips head screws. The correct term is JIS. If more people were to use actual JIS tools, they wouldn't complain so much about, "stripping out the Phillips screws" on Tamiya kits. Great vid. Thanks.

Great video/review as usual! No one can do a better job on a detailed Lexan scale body like Tamiya. I only wish they'd update their included ESC to be able to run Lipos. No too many folks bother with Nicad or Nimh anymore. Once you go lipo, you never go back.....LOL. I have two of their unused escs just sitting on a shelf.

Hey I was wondering.. I’m about to start in this hobby, I just bought a EMAX interceptor with the fpv goggles, and it just came in today, I drove it once and I honestly fell in love with rc cars and now I want to build a car. I have no building experience, I’ve watched your video about the grasshopper 2 and I’m thinking about getting it but I was wondering if there’s a better kit I could get? My price range is about 300 dollars and I have no tools, no experience with rc cars. I’m a complete newbie and I’m asking for your advice, I’m planning on ordering some metric hex drivers and other things but idk what else to get. Please help 😂 love the channel btw, all your videos I’ve seen are great!

Any issues with screws stripping during your build. I had a tt01 and nearly half the screws would strip the plastic threads with me barely tightening them. Seems Tamiya's plastics are very cheap.

Although the screwheads look like phillips, they likely are not. If it's manufactured in Japan, the fasteners will be JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard).

Hi there, great looking kit and Tamiya certainly do put high levels of detailing on their models. I have just returned back to the RC Car world, after a 34 year absence. I have purchased and building the Tamiya Audi Quattro A2 on the TT-02 chassis. I have posted up onto the KZfaq channel my 'The Beginners Journey'. If you have time, please do let me know what you think. Keep safe.

I've been building Tamiya kits for 35 years and love them but I can't understand why in 2020 they are still using plastic bushings and brushed motors with the old Tamiya battery connector. Ball bearings are so cheap now and you can buy budget brushless/ESC combos for well under $50 now days. They make wonderful kits and I know they are often not meant for high speeds but Tamiya really needs to modernize.

Regarding the body post system: perhaps the builder could fabricate their own mounting system ; I concur, If there are no holes in that body , I wouldn't cut any for posts! Are the body post locations pre-drilled??

"...Are the body post locations pre-drilled??...." While I'm not familiar the the Karmann Gia, all the Tamiya kits I've built, the body post locations are unfortunately predrilled.
