If you are looking for a great, easy maintenance all season shrub then Spireas are for you! They grow best in well-drained soil in full sun. They are not troubled by insects or diseases making them suitable for almost any garden. They can be pruned after flowering if need be.

Thanks for watching. I love Spireas. Been trying to spotlight individual species of a variety of plants for a more in depth look. I did Hydrangeas, Dappled Willows, and Little Blue Stem.

Your knowledge of Spirea is helpful. I just bought my first Spirea yesterday. It is called “Sprinkle of sugar” Spirea. The tag on the plant indicates that it is compact and 3-4’ tall and wide and that is one of the reasons that I chose it. Do you know if this plant is the same as a Glow Girl Spirea?

I will try to remember to take a picture when it blooms in the summer here in NC. It will be very small this year since i just planted it today. Stay tuned.

I have a few of these varieties (candy corn, blue kazoo and double doozie) and I love them. However every year they get terrible aphids. Do you deal with this? Any tips?

Thankfully I don’t. I understand Lady bugs help. Try Neem maybe.
