This was actually my go to Tree build, I fell in love with the playstyle watching Phil Youmuus play it in tournaments. Weirdly enough, this is the only combo I haven't tried since the buff as the Wood Hammer buffs scared me. Looks super strong in this video so excited to play it again.

Great video as always Jake. For me, picking a moveset or the other depends on the enemy team's and my own team's composition. That being said, I love playing Ice Beam/whirlpool Lapras, Foul Play/Snarl Umbreon, a good ol' Flail/Yawn bruiser Snorlax and lately I've found myself quite fond of Muddy Water/Acid Spray Goodra

Fav def build is Atk. Speed Surf Blasty: Res Guard+Spoon+Muscle Band/RFS. 7 Red. Just spamming autos and moves.

I wonder if they nerfed Wood Hammer specifically because they were buffing some of Trevenant's other moves, and not so much that Wood Hammer was just so busted in general (it kind of was, but, as said, not necessarily compared to something like Umbreon). That might make more sense to me, that they wanted to even Trev's moves out a bit, since it was really only one moveset that saw a lot of play. I'm really glad they did, in any case. Having Curse more playable is very welcome, always been my favorite move on Trevenant but always felt like the clearly inferior choice.

I've been really liking a lot of defenders recently, including Ice Fang Mamo, Rock Tomb Crustle, and Surfpump Stoise (my main since season 3). I'm also considering trying to run this build that Jake is running here as well EDIT: I tried Wood Hammer Pain Split and it felt a bit weird, but a good kind of weird. I think it worked well. Although instead of Resonant Guard I was running Focus Band because that's what I was already running.

My fav defender build is Scald/Amnesia Slowbro with defense boosting emblems and items. If the enemy is all special attackers I pick Surf instead. Slowbro is trully a bro. Easy-to-play and effective build that you can play while listening to a podcast and do crazy good

I had a 60% wr total and a 70% trev wr vefore i got bored of unite. I never really grinded, i just played a few hundred games, but this was by far my favorite moveset. If you could trade even with draining kiss sylveon on THEIR GOAL PAD with pain split before, you can do anything with pain split now. In my humble opinion they did the wrong nerf to hammer, they should have spaced the second hammer a little bit. Not pre-buff level of spacing but somewhere in between.

Trevanat is feeling a bit overturned to me. I’ve had multiple games where I’m doing over 100k damage while tanking over 100k damage and healing 80k. A bad game might be 80, 80, 60.
