Easy peasy when it's open cell, and you trim it down, plus I've seen demonstrations of other foamers testing the difference between 2 and 3 inches and it didn't make that much of a difference if the foam and air sealing between studs and plates was done right. Vapor barrier done right will do amazing things

Also if you pause the video it shows that not the hole cavity at 100% is filled. If you have a house fire open cell will help it burn due to the pores of air pockets.

If it expands out past stud you are putting to much on. Slow down flow and put on thinner layer.

This is a normal spray. I say the operator is doing very well on amount. This looks like it barely expand past the stud. It's normal to overspray and shave off, which is really the only method to 100% fill the bays.

If you live in warm and humid climate please don't ever let someone sell you open cell foam, only use closed cell

Open cell is not a good product for exterior walls. Open cell has alot of pores and its not even a fire retardant. With closed cell foam aka your pink board. You get 5 products in one. 1.Boosts the rigidity of the building. 2. Mold barrier. 3. Fire retardant. 4. Sound dampners. 5. Water resistance. I have been in the foaming business for the last 5 plus years now. Closed cell is the way to go for exterior walls of homes or shops. You also get more R value with closed cell than Open cell.

@dustinpomeroy8817 for closed cell you need to tear it down to bare studs. They do have a product out there called injection foam. I don't swear by it but it's out there. Injection foam is a slow reacting foam, once they do that there's not a guarantee that 100% of the cavity will get sealed correctly. Once you rip the section of wall out closed cell foamers can hit every crack and seal it 100% so no air transfers at all.
