Today we spray an entire car in the self proclaimed World's Blackest Paint. This Musou Black paint comes from Japan and is supposed to compete with the likes of Vanta Black and Black 3.0. It absorbs over 99% of light and looks completely insane when applied correctly. This paint was not designed to be used on cars and this project should not be replicated. We simply did it for fun and for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

Just saw this - I would drive a car with that paint finish. The drive-by shot, makes the car go from 3D to 2D, which is the whole point of the paint. And as its water-based, probably easier to touch up too.

Water based paint is why. It would need a protective coat and that could cause issues as well. They did not attempt to coat it because they are a wrap shop.

Yeah this really should be done using a 2 or even 3 tone paint scheme, It would be great as a base color with other colors highlighting the curves of the car. but as a lone single paint job its kind of ugly especially on the newer body style EVOs that were more curvy than the old boxy ones.

It is quite useful for professional photography. A background painted in this color makes studio photos easier to work with in Photoshop or any other graphic editor.

There was that mythbusters episode that showed. White car getting to 125 degrees and a black car getting to 135 in. And an EPA one showed that it took longer to cool as well. So no doubt it will be hot. However I would like to point out that current black paint has a reflectivity of about 93-96 percent according to a Ford study on car paint reflectivity. I'd argue that there would be less than relative 3-6% increase in temperature. All that to say....is there really a difference between a 125 degree car and say a 140 degree car? What kind of protectant goes over it? The big flaw of ultra blacks is they most likely cant be clear coated since at least part of the deal is it functions like a super matte finish

@@lesacarter8834 that would 100% ruin the finish. I have had many alternative finish paint jobs. The best ones were just paint and no protection coat. I have tried the matte and flat clear coats but they have more sheen and depth which inherently ruins the original alternative finish

Fun fact. Black clothing is actually more visible at night when compared to dark navy blue. Something as black as black is extremely rare in nature. It's more of a variation of super dark color palettes.
