Yun interesting the sand bonds with the manure like glue and when spreading it putting the sand back into the field well if a person could pump down to the sand let it set for a while it would set up like concrete if pump all liquid manure out.

Why are you not using sawdust in the cow beds versus the sand? The sawdust would be a better a better choice for the permaculture in your field better than sand. The facilities, animals and equipment of your farm are impressive! Love your VLOG!

After the initial 10-15 loads I would suggest to pile up the remaining majority of the manure to let get it drained even more. Would be easier to load.

I thought the same. perhaps a Bulldozer would be quite useful in this task. I am very curious to know how they are going to get around this accumulation of sand in the coming years. maybe build a sump

I would add a concrete pad on the ramp so it is easier to keep clean and not mess up more the pit

James Bedell tractor probably wouldn’t have grip pulling it out cos the ramp would be slippy and some of the shit might flow out of the top of the back of the spreader cos he’d be driving up at and angle

If you use pine shavings (the sawdust ones/mini flakes) you won’t have the sand problem. It’s also not as dusty and heavy.

Not likely, we kinda think if it came out the pipe out the back of the barn it shouldn't go back into the beds!

Hi, we milk 300 cows here in Quebec on sand too. We have the same problem we pump the liquids and then scoop out all the solids. This year was the worst the solid was really more a soup it wasnt fun.

interesting to know that cities deal with this same issue. Only difference being the amount of heavy metals and drugs in the manure (human waste). Makes it impossible to spread in one area year after year.

Yeah I’m sure we’ll start to see some serious wear on all the pump in a few years. Definitely quicker to pump it out than scooping it.

Did the mixing work for you properly in 2020? Do u know a manure seperating system? You could feed the machine with the wet dirt, bring the solid manure out with your spreader and leave the liquid manure in the pit. This way you would save a lot of fuel with your loader and tractor, since you had less solid manure.

Ive a question, when you've got a bit of clean space in the bottom of the lagoon, why don't you reverse the tractor and spreader in? So you don't have to keep reversing out all the time when loading

How many cubic feet of manure does that spreader hold. That is way bigger than anything I see around where I live.

My parents own the farm and I started working for them after I was done with school. We currently employ 3 full time employees the help with the daily jobs like milking and feeding!

Do you have a manure management plan that you have to go by in Canada? Wouldn't be beneficial to have a pad of cement outside of the ramp then you wouldn't have to fight the mud ? What are the pipes in the pit for ? Depth to know how deep the manure is in the pit ?

The pad would cost extra money, Those pipes are to pump the maure into the pit and its 10 feet deep and 175ft by 175ft!

The lagoon boats are really expensive. If you want him to have one so bad. Im sure he will give an address to send money to. lots of more expensive ways to do things. I'm sure they got the pit emptied with what they have.

Michael Clark , in an earlier video he said that they use sand since its inorganic. Apparently it’s better to prevent mastatitus. Plus, they have access to large sandbanks on their property so it’s free.

Your pit is so large it’s impossible to keep the sand suspended long enough while you’re agitating to pump it.

Why don't you back the spreader down the ramp so you have less travel with the loader. Plus you're dirt part of the ramp won't get so bad with less travel.

hello . why didnt you drive the spreader in front of the entrance to manure pit . you can turn around with wheel loader in the pit . it goes faster to fill the spreader wagon . nice greatings from North West Germany 8km from Emden from Bert
