A very warm welcome once again to our channel. Thankyou to our new and existing subscribers and we're off again in Spring 2024.
Well we had planned to travel together in April 2024, but the early arrival of our first grandchild meant Nicky flew in to Geneva earlier than planned and I followed (as booked) with the van.
Episode 1 of this series looks at the journey to The French Alps, from Tenby, and includes some detail in and around Newhaven Ferry Terminal.
Once again our thanks to you all for travelling with us and for contributing to our motorhome community with your comments, likes, subscriptions to our channel (it's still FREE ! ) and general all round awesomeness - thank you so much :)
This series of films follows our Spring 2024 6 week trip to France in our A Class 2021 Mobilvetta K-Yacht 79 Teknoline

Hi from a Tenby exile! Congratulations on being grandparents, I thought Tenby to Worcestershire was a long way to go to babysit but yours smashes that one 🤣🍷. We are planning a trip to Morzine in September this year , could you help me out with a non toll route that does not have too many switch back roads as our van is older and does not have assisted engine breaking! Any help would be appreciated. Do you go through Geneva? And do you need a crit air sticker for Switzerland? I already have the French one👍 Best wishes to you and Nicky. Time to wet the babies head🍺🤣🍾🍸

Sorry for the delay you Tenby Exile :)) Re the route bit ...... Is your van over 3.5 tons and do you use a truck/motorhome Satnav? Yes that certainly is a baby sitting run !! :)) And there certainly have been some celebrations!! One route takes you through Geneva - and they don't need Crit-Air stickers for the city unless there is a 'pollution peak'. If there is there will be visible signs (They are folded or switched off every time we've been through) and the link below will assist re understanding and signs etc. I note you said you had the French Crit-Air - if that's the case Geneva does recognise the French sticker and you wouldn't need to buy another one at all. Check out this link ....... www.rac.co.uk/drive/travel/driving-in-europe/switzerlands-stickair-stickers-what-you-need-to-know/ We've not seen a pollution warning yet !! I'll talk more re routes when I know what size the van is :))

Hello again And firstly thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me, you two must be very busy with the new born! My van is a 4.5 Hymer A class. 3 litre. We do use a motorhome specific ( height, width, weight) sat nav, but I must admit it has taken us a bit off piste on occasions when we have found ourselves on single track mountain roads with no passing places!😤. That’s why I want to stay on main roads. We follow you , Nicky and Rezzy, and this year we are going down to the Verdon Gorge after watching your vlog. Last year we went down to Lac Leman and stayed at Camping Saint Distille in Thonon Les Bains. I can recommend that site. We really enjoyed it and stayed a week. We also did Annecy and then chased the sun to Cap Agde, again for a week! Our route last year to Thonon Les Bains took us through Geneva past the old border control, through the town which took ages and traffic lights every 100 yards, all on red😤.Over a bridge and then left towards Thonon with the lake on my left side. I would prefer to miss out going through Geneva again if this possible. We had planned to be over there now, but an issue with my van and an unexpected hospital operation has meant us delaying until September. Can’t wait to go now😁 Incidentally I was Manager of the Swimming pool/leisure centre from 1985 to 1995. We lived in Cwm Gwennol in Saundersfoot and moved to the Cotswold in 1995. We still stay in touch with our friends who live just up the road from you in New Hedges. Bryan and Angie Lewis, who live next door to the mini market. They too have an A class motorhome parked in their drive. A Pilote I think? Funnily enough we are meeting up with them this weekend at Llangorse lake🍺. We love your travels and would one day like to meet up with and buy you both a bevy! Enjoy your grandchild and time with your daughter Take care Best wishes Peter, Kim and Bentley the old English sheepdog (Froggatt)🍸🍾🍺👍

Thank you very much for that Peter and Kim and woofer. Yes know the van in New Hedges and no I've not hit their wall !! :) (Many have!!) Well what a small world it really is - we moved from Priors Marston to here so a swap almost - know the Cotswolds fondly ! Yes I know that route well - came that way in last weeks film!! As an alternative, and depending on your time I've done the below route maps.app.goo.gl/ERawM3Eqhh7nWyLd9 It was part of our Autumn Adventures last year and you come in around the bottom of Geneva avoiding the city and going through Annemasse) If you didn't want to go to the West of Paris then the below is another one we've done - both are non toll but with motorways where free - you could remove the motorways altogether of course. Again it comes underneath Geneva. maps.app.goo.gl/cAFXsYVsQ9FaEfEr8 The only other way would take you through the top end of Lac Leman at Montreux but that would route you over a couple of Swiss humps - todays film was of course that route in reverse going North to Eguisheim :) Both done on Google maps not a motorhome satnav for those links so double check on your system but gives you the general idea hopefully :)) Send our regards to our, not yet met neighbours, Bryan and Angie - and enjoy Llangorse. We might all meet in the new Hunters Moon pub at New Hedges just reopened !! :))

Hi Bob and Nicky Thank you so much for the very prompt and informative reply. We will be travelling from Calais on the Chunnel so will T into your route further down by Dijon and follow to South of Geneva to Morzine. We plan to stay a couple of days in Morzine and then a Campsite in Annecy. Then onto the Verdon Gorge for a few days. Thereafter ? Who knows, maybe North and pick up the Loire Chateaux trail? That’s the beauty of the motorhome, you can please yourself day by day! Yes it is a small world, as when we first moved from Saundersfoot ( although I am Tenby born and bred) we lived in Lower Quinton just south of Stratford upon Avon! We have moved around England abut with our careers and even retired to Freshwater East for 5 years before Covid and the Grandchildren arrived. Now we live just outside Evesham in a hamlet called Chadbury on the Worcester Road. Not quite the Cotswolds but near enough without having to win the lottery to buy a house 🤣. We hope to be visiting family in Tenby sometime in August, so if you are both at home at that time ( no dates yet) then yes indeed we would love to meet up with you both in the Hunters moon for a beer and a chat .wow I remember the discos back in the day when the Lawrence’s ran it! Apparently it wasn’t only a drink you could buy there in those days😁. But now a respectable family eatery 🍺🍔🥟. Take care you two and enjoy your travels, we will catch up with the channel tonight. Very best wishes From Peter, Kim and Bentley 🚐

Huge congratulations to you both on becoming Grandparents - great fun lies ahead with a grandchild to indulge! We smiled as we too had the ‘grandfather title discussion, and we also concluded that Papi was the least old sounding, I refused to be anything beginning with ‘Grand’ - Archduke would have been Ok & I did suggest ‘Sir’ would do - Papi stuck!! Great Vlog as always - we’re currently in Picos de Europa into week 5 of 9 on the retirement tour, rapidly getting used to the idea of no work emails & only carrying one phone! Regards. P

What an awesome tour you’re doing there Peter!! What happens if your work phone rings at home ? ……. Oh wait ….. it won’t 😂🎉🎉 I’m liking Archduke - got me thinking that 😀 Of course a big thank you too Peter for that and we thoroughly enjoyed the little man !! Only four more weeks and then back to all those emails ……… wait…….

What were the chances!! Ireland is high on my list of ‘return to’ places 😀 after holidaying there a few times. There’s a stack of setup options with Sygic and if you take the time to do that detail you can get it running really well for your route preferences 😀

How much was the crossing from Newhaven to dieppe, in one of your early video's you said it was cheaper than euro tunnel

@motorhomingadventures 28 күн бұрын
@jeffreygroombridge6892 Morning Jeffrey - it was £204 this year - which includes the 20% discount you get for being over 60 - we had to ring them up to get the Over 60 discount - it can't be done online :) Hope that helps :)

Audio was so bad... killed it, in a bad way. With all the gadgets you have in the motorhome... a mic with wind protection may be a good investment.
