Well said. Yes, this was the band that helped other decent ska bands recruit great horns. Hey, it's all good - it's for the music. =)
@mattrodas65889 жыл бұрын
So the horn section is JR, Tyler from RBF, and a guy from The Bosstones? Wow! Why weren't they any bigger?
@DrummingMoose6 жыл бұрын
Matt Rodas JR didn't join Less Than Jake until 2000, if that's what you're thinking.
@amazonguitar225 жыл бұрын
Matt Rodas they were making a name for themselves but by 2000 ska was out of the mainstream and on top of that their label, ignition records, went out of business. They found themselves unsigned in a sea of pop punk bands on the rise and called it quits. They were going to reform a little after they broke up but their drummer died in ‘02 :/ they’ve reunited a couple times and reformed the band a couple years back with a different lineup

I remember being 13 and looking the the "Ska" section of my local record store 'cause I wanted to stock up on a few records for the trip back to NY for a funeral. I picked up "Songs From Suburbia" from these guys and Skankin Pickle's live record strictly based on album covers. I had heard of SP, but not SHJ. Needless to say, it was a huge part of my developing ska taste at the time (Set in motion by Rogue Trip; 2012 on PS1). I was also learning to play guitar at the time and was learning to play Ska. I had E-mail correspondence with Mike Pellegrino (Singer of first song "Jolene" in this vid) on how to get my upstrokes for the clean "chanky" parts and whether I should use full 6 string barre chords or if 4 strings was acceptable. Looking back it's funny now, but it's really thanks to Mike and Aaron (of RBF, met him outside a show in Ft. Myers FL) who took the time to talk to my 13 year old self, that I progressed as fast as I did within that year.

whoohaaXL so what was his answer? 4 strings or 6?
@whoohaaXL4 жыл бұрын
@@Hubbardbilly Watching him play helped the most but he said (iirc) if he wasn't barring, it was usually the D,G,B,E he was always playing.
