I am really excited to introduce some of my favorite spring flowering bulbs. The Wood Squill or Scilla mischtschenkoana (how do you say that?!) is a pretty little bulb that naturalizes in moist soil. Native to the Caucasus and Northern Iran, the plant is in the Asparagus family and was used in the Middle Ages for medical concerns. According to ancient texts, this plant was transported from its native habitat by the Greeks and Egyptians during the Roman Empire, to grow in their own gardens. In modern times, bulb breeders have cultivated many varieties and colors for naturalization in your gardens.
