Planting Bulbs in Pots. Although some small bulbs prefer soggy conditions to grow, these spring bulbs - dwarf iris/Iris Reticulata cannot grow in my heavy wet, clay soil as they need light well drained soil and baking sun, so I used different size pots. The intention is to have spring bulbs in pots gathered up for a spring display.
Dwarf Iris Bulbs/Iris Reticulata in Pots. Not only did I pack the iris bulbs into the pot, I also had other spring bulbs like daffodils and crocus. Planting these spring bulbs into the ground is something I cant do as they would rot but due to the light gritty soil in the pots they do well like this.
They sit out in a well draining spot all Winter as they need a period of cold weather to flower properly then in the Spring when they start emerging I will move them round the garden.

I wish we could easily grow bulbs here in the tropics.

I used to live in the Philippines and I had the same wish. But you know, if you come across bulbs place them in a refrigerator for three months. Then put them in pots. They’ll grow but the life cycle is quick due to the heat and humidity. Thanks for being a part of the channel Malaysian Tropikfusion. Cheers!

Curious to see what’s growing there? I have been trying to force or pot spring bulbs the last 2-3 years.

Hi Suzanne. All the bulbs grew and have been transplanted in my elevated garden last year. I'll have to do a short video to show you how they will be this year. Thanks for dropping a line! :-)
