Relaxing walk through Spring Wood (also known as Bluebell Woods) listening to bird songs, admiring the flowers - especially the bluebells and wild garlic - in daytime and early evening. This well known picnic site is located in Whalley near Clitheroe in Lancashire and also boasts an arboretum with many different kinds of trees marked by posts, helping you to identify them. The woods plays host to many different species of birds including Jays, Warblers and Chiffchaffs and many other types. We also enjoy spotting the squirrels, looking at the waterfall but sadly we missed out on spotting the deer that were present that day.
I returned in the evening to take the dog for a walk as it's a great dog walking route too. We often visit spring wood as a family and the kids love exploring the woods and playing around on the fallen trees.
I would allow around 1 or 2 hours to explore and experience Spring Wood and all it has to offer.
