The 15 has been a long time favourite of mine. Definitely stands out in the crowd for the core lineup. Can’t compare it to vintage springbanks but loving the modern ones. Great review again gents. Thank you.

Hey Hoh Gentlemen. I'm happy to know to have a similar palate. In my notes it got an 85 ... so, a solid note ,..ok,...but due to the price it's not the first I'm looking for. Thank you both for sharing. Greetings,Moses

For sure, prices are just going crazy. Thanks Keith!

15 is my favorite out of the 10, 12, and 18. Perfect balance of the spirit and cask influence.

Interesting Steven, not the common answer but good to know others appreciating this.

@@maltreviews What held you back from declaring the 15 the best of the lineup? Was it the sulfur?

Good stuff playas, I actually bought my fist 15 last year, it was a dark one, and I loved it, killed it shockingly fast. I just picked up one of the new box-less bottles yesterday and had my first dram. Didn't hit quite the same on first impressions but still good. Yea I think Springbank 12 was #1 as voted by the fans, but wasn't nominated in the official polls. Cheers brothas!

Very nice!! Yah they will differ a bit. Let the new open up and hopefully it gets even better. Cheers my friend!

I love that this is the overlooked bottling as the 15 was my first purchase of Springbank years and years ago and has continued to be one of if not my favorite in the core range. I was obsessed and become hooked after that bottle, just cracked a fresh bottle yesterday that is quite dark and is still so delicious as before. Also I think the cask mix is 60/40 or 70/30 Sherry to Bourbon for these.

Contrary to popular opinion I'm not a huge Springbank fan, but I picked up a couple bottles of the 15 year a couple years ago for $86 per bottle. Now the average price in my market is between $115-125. I also snagged a couple 10 years for $46, but now they tend to go for around $86-95 in my market. Glad I also picked up a couple 18 years for $174 each, but honestly they, along with several batches of the 12 cask strength, usually just sit on my shelf as I pass over then in favor of something else. I much prefer the Longrow Red from Springbank. Springbank just doesn't resonate with my palate.

Thats totally fine and good to be honest and not just follow what others like. I wonder if the older expressions like the 21 and 25 would hit the spot for you with more age.

Great review! I always liked the SB15, hoping that it stays relatively low on the radar, so there's more of it to go around.

The 10 and 15 still available at some places

Man this sulphur... i had it in so many modern bottles, also strong in Springbank. Thats why i always hesitated to get new bottles of Springbank.
@maltreviews Жыл бұрын
Current bottlings do not have it

I'm only somewhat sensitive to the sulphur note and love it when I detect it. Anyway I noticed for a long time now that many reviewers don't mention how much the malted barley comes through in these whiskies. You guys mention the spirit coming through, but is that just an alcohol note or are you referring to a malty note from the barley? Is this whisky more sherry, bourbon, or barley malt forward or a combination of 2 or more.....maybe none of the above? My biggest thing is when the barley malt flavor comes through foremost, then I search for other notes. BTW I'm quite new to this, only a few years, but do know I love the barley malt flavor in a dram. Nice review! Thanks and cheers!🥃

I know this one really divides the community. I really liked the 2018 bottle I had. When I opened my 2019 Longrow 18 it immediately made me think of the SB 15 I had. Wish I had a sample left to compare but just from memory they seemed very similar. Have a 2019 of this put away. Think the SB 12cs won the people's vote in the OSWA's? Got my SB 15's in the good old days when they would go on sale for $85 on UK sites. Cheers guy's

These times gone and never be back! You so lucky got few expresions from SB. I live in UK and SB never been on shelves in my location. I check online shops regularly over year and never seen SB LR or HB for sale in retail prices. Once put myself on ballot but failed so...🤷♂️🥃🙋♂️

Good description of sulphuric tiers. I think my sweet spot is between gun powder and burnt match. LOL. Nobody loves the rotten egg / propane level!

The 10 is a much better value. But I definitely prefer the 15, even over the one 18 I tried.

I have this 2020 and it must be bourban/sherry because it taste similar to the kilkerran 12 from the same year.
@maltreviews2 жыл бұрын
Ya it tastes like there is bourbon influence in there but its all sherry

I love this one. I went through 1 bottle and now I having opened 2021 dark batch ( cannot detect the sulphur there ).. I get a lot of hazelnut chocolate in this one. As a sherry head love it. BTW broken glass means luck in some cultures! You handled it like pros :) and yes Narbe is right 15yo is always 100% sherry casks. Cheers guys
@maltreviews2 жыл бұрын
Will have to seek that one as well. Sounds tasty! Waiting for that good luck baby!!! Cheers buddy!!
@welshtoro32562 жыл бұрын
There's always a bit of sulphur on this baby and I've had sulphur on Longrow 18 a couple of times too. The colour of the juice in your bottle looks a lot lighter than any Springbank 15 I've had. (That's only a couple of bottles by the way. I far prefer the 10.) It's always been in your face sherry Springbank style (with the sulphur). I'm afraid this one sells out now. I'd give it an 83.
@maltreviews2 жыл бұрын
This one felt like the sherry was more balanced and from memory the best 15 Ive had so far (not including old springbank of course).

The new late 2021/early 2022 bottles are numerous shades darker than this bottling. Got a bottle and waiting to open it

Yah this one is def lighter in color and in profile

2022 is excellent. So unique, viscous and flavorful. Shame about the price, and it doesn’t really have a cheaper close relative out there that I’ve found.

Yeah, not a fan of the 15 in general. Springbank with heavy sherry doesn't work well for me. That said they go from baby diaper after eating ribs to fairly ok sherry notes I don't hate. It's 100% sherry cask, but they vary SOOOOOO much
@maltreviews2 жыл бұрын
Yah this was def less dirty sherry than I remember it to be.

You got your hands on the new kilkerran 8 sherry and port? The port cask is a beast :-)

No luck there

Better than the 18 in my opinion. Price jump to 21, 25, 30 is ridiculous. 15 is best value in my opinion or the 12 CS if you can find at retail.

Hey guys, great review, I love this stuff. I find that when I taste a few whiskeys side by side I get a drying bitterness that creeps in sometimes, or I am not sensitive to oaky bitterness. Do you guys have a recommendation for a “palate reset” or a way to get my palate back into a place where I can reliably get tasting notes when doing a larger tasting?
@maltreviews2 жыл бұрын
We def want to make a video about palate reset but simply put dont drink for a couple weeks and keep your salt and sugars as low as possible. No fried foods, etc
@WhiskyInThe62 жыл бұрын
The 15 has always been my least favourite followed by the 18. Prefer the 10 and 12 by a lot.
