I am soooooo beyond thrilled you’ve documented this. I also had Michael for this tour & my Glengyle tour. He’s hilarious, informed, friendly and just a perfect guide. Like Russell mentioned, this video will help me relive the tour whenever I want. Invaluable. Thank you so much. And isn’t Springbank newmake just wonderful?! I was thinking fruit roll-ups w/ some barley & spice. And it just kept going on and on for the rest of the tour. Fan-freaking-tastic.

Thanks Jay. It is the same for us to be able to look back. Already we have enjoyed watching the post edited videos. Springbank New Make was fantastic. I got robbed of my second sip :-) We also have some form Bunnahabhain that we have yet to try.

I just loved seeing the joy on your faces throughout the tour. It's exactly how I felt when I went on my bourbon pilgrimage last year in TN & KY. I cannot wait to get back to Scotland and this time concentrate on the distilleries I learned to love over the past few years.

Phil & Deepa, it's great to be able to relive the Springbank tour via your video. My group had a different guide, but he was just as cheeky and as entertaining as your bloke. They've all got a grand sense of humour down there in Campbeltown - you can't help but enjoy yourself. Although, looking at the faces of your parents, Phil, it's not likely they'll be becoming Springbank fans anytime in the foreseeable future! Just loved your guide's explanation of the 2.5 distillation cycle - very hands on, in the truest sense of the word. Many thanks for uploading the vid - much appreciated. Did you go on to a tasting afterwards? I'll keep an eye out for that one. Cheers!

Thanks Russell. Michael was very energetic and moved the tour along at a good pace. Although I felt a bit sorry for any non native English speakers keeping up with the pace. My parents did not join us in the Cadenhead Warehouse tasting that followed :-)

I've been fortunate enough to do the tour here a few times and it never gets boring. As mentioned the welcoming style of humour from the people ( and the whisky of course) ensures that its a top notch visit. Its a shame they weren't distilling as you would have heard the little clang from the bell at the side of the wash still, a simple but effective piece of kit.

The tour guide was brilliant. Knowledgable, funny and approachable. Other tour guides should use him as a template. I hope to make it there one day. I'm fairly new to Springbank and Kilkerrran but rest assured I'm hooked. Nice presentation Captain :-)

Thanks fellas. You are going to have a great time seeing these places as they really are. These are not big factories but small, gritty, old fashioned and very 'real' for the people working there.

Such a great tour! We had an equally great tour by a woman when we were there, the smell and feel of the place is just fantastic! Lucky you, you got to taste new make and see the malting floor in action. When we were there, the mash tun was being filled, all the wash backs were full and distillation was running full steam. I guess you can't have it all, ey? You really captured the essence of SB!

Such a nice distillery however as a Canadian it's rather unfortunate that anything beyond the 10 & 15 is so hard to come by and is so expensive. The price doubles or almost with each jump in age past 15 but the abv remains constant. Would love to try the 18, 21 or 25 but probably won't get the opportunity. Here in Ontario Canada, population 13 million we have 7 bottles of the 10 and 7 bottles of the 18 and that's it! No Longrow at all, and our prices are the highest in the world. Enjoy your Springbank, Longrow and thanks for the extensive video tour as well as your other Islay video's.

Hello Phil and Deepa, I going attend Whisky Exchange Old & Rare show next year in London. As I am going to be in London I am thinking about swinging by Campbeltown to checkout all the distilleries, tours and tastings you did. How may days of stay in Campbeltown do you recommend? 2 or 3 days? . Thanks for sharing these vlogs. They are very helpful in planning my trip.
@WhiskyMystery
@WhiskyMystery 4 жыл бұрын
Hi DB. Traveling to Campbeltown from London (550 miles) would be a day in itself and I would allow one day per distillery to be relaxed. You could do two per day in Campbeltown as the town is small. So I would say you need at least 4 days London - Campbeltown - London.
