In 1999 Kaya Malotana made history by becoming the first black man to play a Test match for the Springboks. Kaya made his debut against Spain at the 1999 Rugby World Cup in a big win for the Boks. Unfortunately due to a series of injuries, Malotana would not get the opportunity to play a second Test.
In this fascinating discussion Kaya opens up on his journey from boarding school in the Eastern Cape to going all the way to the top and fulfilling an incredible dream by representing his country at a World Cup.
There were many political sensitivities at the time and Malotana is happy to discuss those issues in this candid and fun interview.

Peter says: I love the Springboks and rugby is one of my favourite sports. Although as a sports journalist I am supposed to remain neutral, I always like to point out that before I became a professional, I was just a big fan! I hold a Masters Degree in International Journalism so at least you know I should be able to ask a good question or two! My dream is to do this KZfaq Channel permanently.
