ill be buying one soon, likely swapping in the EGW toolless, but even on my operator 45 with a WC FLGR, I still rotate my link and take down the old way, not removing the slide first.... removing the slide first always seems harder and takes longer.... no idea why people do it that way

I used a 2 piece guide rod years ago when I shot IPSC. I always loosened it first before removing the slide. You skipped step 3 and that is what caused your difficulty. I really enjoy your videos and consider you one of the best reviewers online. 👍

Your very welcome. Your also one of the best shots I've seen online. Banging full size steel is much easier than shooting the tight groups you regularly shoot in front of the camera. @@GBGuns

Hahaha, I've discussed that a bit withh friends: certain channels have a wall of full-size steel and after making contact at a non-pre-called target call the gun "accurate", or even worse are praised as accurate shooters. It is what it is, each channel has a different set of standards they hold themselves and the firearms to. I just try to keep things practical.

The reference was to step 2, but if you had just read down one more step, you would have seen that step 3 was the one that had the hex wrench in it. Step 3 tells you to loosen the 2 part guide rod before you take the slide off. If you do it that way it doesn't ding the ears on the rod.

Glad to here. I've got the 5" also and it won't complete a mag without multiple malfunctions. I've tried different recoil springs and hammer springs, and a combination of both. Still doesn't work. Also contacted Springfield before tinkering, and they never responded. So, it's going to be gone Friday. Don't know what I want to trade it for though.

I like to back off the guiderod bolt with the slide on the frame. I’ve had my 4.25” for 4 months or so now and very pleased. Zero failures and I’m north of 3,000 rounds now. That being said this is my first DBL stack 1911. My only gripe has been the optic plate coming loose several times.

Very awesome. The 425 is awesome model. Was a little worried after watching reviews. But so far very nice. Great video. Alot of optic issues are reported. They loosen up even with lock tight the plate to rail fit. and the screws need to be filed down so not to interfere with the ejection. Not all models but some. Other than that it's ok.

Thank you GBGuns and thank you patrons! While this offering seems value driven it doesn't seem to have the quality of Bul or Staccato and doesn't have the features of the next group of MPA or Vudoo. I do like my Springfield Range Officer in 45 ACP but will likely go to another manufacturer for a double stack 9mm 1911.

You're correct about 80 series when you're talking about a 7lb trigger, not when you're talking about a 1.5lb-2.5lb trigger. That's where 70 series makes a huge difference.

i dont get the heavier "carry trigger" on a 1911 except as an excuse for a bad trigger. its carried cocked and locked or if you dont trust yourself then with the hammer down so what is the reason for a heavier trigger? All 1911's should have light crisp triggers there is no excuse.
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 11 ай бұрын
I say that as someone who has had a total of over 300 hours of nationally/internationally recognized training in addition to combat experience in Afghanistan. Trigger weight is not an issue when adrenaline is pumping, but too light can be when under durress, moving, being startled, etc. My raggedy GI M16A2 trigger was hardly noticed during combat, I'd hate to have a light trigger in the civilian world where every round fired can and likely will have a law suit attached to it.
@Trumplican
@Trumplican 11 ай бұрын
@@GBGuns I'm not questioning your expertise i have been an avid subscriber for a long time I know you are very knowledgeable I just disagree on this. I do agree when the adrenaline was pumping I didn't notice the 8 pound creeping trigger on my M16 either but especially on a pistol a poor trigger can still effect accuracy. As for stressful situations even then you shouldn't have your booger flicker on the trigger unless you want to destroy what you are aiming at and adequate training can ensure that. I see no excuse for a high quality 1911 to have anything but a light and crisp trigger pull.
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 11 ай бұрын
We can agree to disagree, especially when it comes to something as personal as trigger application. I've runn DA/SA guns through four-day courses and never had a slightly heavier trigger hold me back at anything beyond long strings of rapid fire.

How does this compare with the Rock Island's double stack 1911?

The Rock Island is all steel and so significantly heavier. That can be good for recoil control, or a boat anchor on your hip.

Apologies if you said already, but is this one made by HS Produkt?
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 11 ай бұрын
It is not, I'm not sure who is making this, but as we know Springfield does very little (if any) manufacturing of their own, so I have trouble believing they just starting making double-stack 1911's out of the blue one day.

@@GBGunsoh ok... I searched a little harder and found this on Backfire: All Springfield Armory firearms today are made in the USA, except for the XD and Hellcat lines of pistols which are made in a Springfield-owned facility in Croatia. Their 1911 models had frames and slides manufactured in Brazil until 2010, but now they are all made in the USA. The company is headquartered in Geneseo, Illinois. Didn't seem like HS Produkt to put out something with extractor problems. My brain was having trouble with that. Anyway enough of my rambling. Thanks for answering!
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 11 ай бұрын
I seriously doubt that Springfield owns HS Produkt. I also doubt they made the Saint Edgge ATC which was clearly a licensed version of someone else's product. The M1 wasn't their design, the 1911 isn't their design, hell even the name isn't the original "Springfield Armory". Until I accidentally find myself in Illinois I'll have trouble believing they do much manufacturing. They have good products, and are brilliant at marketing. There's nothing wrong with being just a brand, but I struggle to give them credit for product creation despite my appreciation for hte products they bring to market.

How come people assume that Springfield Armory had to cut corners to hit this price point? Maybe the other manufacturers, (staccato) are just over pricing theirs.
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 6 ай бұрын
1911-pattern guns involve a lot more parts than your basic striker gun. More parts means more manufacturing costs and more labor to assemble. There are some measures taken wiht this pistol to reduce costs, and yes Stacatto is very proud of their work too. What the real cost is we'll never know.
