It’s the best safety ever made because it requires no special thought to deactivate in a panic situation, but during no panic re-holstering, it provides extra safety if we keep our hand off the safety while reholstering.

I've been out of the Marines for almost 15 years now and haven't touched a gun since. I was actually a marksmanship instructor with the Beretta. I'm buying my first gun since I've been out and it will be this Springfield XD. Great review!

Thanks for your service. If you're are looking for a full sized pistol. The 4" XD service models are very nicely balanced. The difference between the compact and service is the grip length. The service has a full sized grip. The compact has a shorter compact grip and the subcompact has the compact grip and a 3" barrel. For subcompact I prefer the xds which is a single stack and much easier to conceal. I personally conceal carry a xds in 45 and in my truck (and or OWB carry in a cross draw holster with a jacket on) a XD Service 4" in 45. You can do the same thing in these platforms in 9mm if you prefer that chambering. If you want to spend a little more there is the XDM line up which is the higher end version of the XD. Like Toyota vs Lexus😂. The XD's are just fine by me but I'd take a XDM too. 👍

Love mine. So reliable. Never had a jam no matter what ammo I shoot in it. This one and my SW model 65 357 are my favorite guns I own.

I have had the Springfield XD for 20 years now and I still can’t find a better pistol in its price range older or newer. I’m going to get the subcompact with the stainless steal upper. One thing, this gun isn’t made by Springfield. It’s made by HS Productk out of Croatia for Springfield. HS makes the XD for their police and military. It’s a proven tack driver.

I have XD full size and love it. Feels good in my hand and shoots great. My wife has this compact 3" but we have not taken it to the range yet for me to give an opinion, but I'm sure it is a great gun

Got one of those xd9 subcompact, like the way it feels in the hand and taking it down is pretty easy to do. Just haven’t had the time or money to take it to the range, ammo ain’t cheap. Like the video, straight to the point 👍

You will love the way it shoots. XD’s are very accurate and very smooth shooting pistols and they will spit out any and all ammo you can throw at it.

I sold a XD 45 Service model 4" and that was a mistake. I just got another one which is staying in the collection. They are very well made, they don't change them every year with a new revision because if it ain't broken why fix it?!?! I like the grip safety it's tactile and engages without a purposeful effort. The idea comes from the 1911's and it shares the same grip angle. The trigger to me is a very serviceable striker style combat trigger very good reset. These guns come out of combat lineage in the HS2000. They are fairly sleek, rugged, reliable and the XD 45: Service(full grip) 4" very well balanced pistol 13+1 of 45acp. High value fair price.

I did a review of the xds, Hellcat pro and this xd mod 2... the hellcat pro and mod2 owned by my brother i loved this gun so much i just bought one used... funny thing is my brother sold his and i was at the gun shop and the one i bought was his he traded in that i used in my video. He bought it brand new and shot 100 rounds through it so i bought a used new gun thankfully... great review, have a blessed day

I agree, good looking gun. I like the double profile look on the slide. But seems it would a little on the cumbersome side for carry compared to more up to date micro 9's.

I have a 5" tactical 40 but I plan to get a Sub-40 as well since I have a lot of mags for it. Just LOOK at how this gun compares to other guns JUST coming out now. It's been out for a long time and no one talks about em anymore. BUT just look at it's size and weight. It's still holding it's own well in those departments and it's a really reliable gun. 12 round mags might be smaller for my full sized but 12 rounds on a reload mag for CC is a LOT of firepower for a .40 for CC. I gotta get the compact .45 too and probably this and the 9mm service size. I live in CA so I'm not supposed to have more than 10 rounds and our stupid handgun roster makes XDM non-viable. However I did get 6 12 round mags on Freedom Week for this gun a 17 rounders for my Ruger P95. So that was fun at least lol.

As a left handed shooter, the grip safety is a big deal. I’ve carried these guys for years. They are fantastic handguns

Great video, I own the xds mod 2 osp great gun. I own smith & w, ruger, walther, but out out of all the micro pistols, Taurus GX4 IS my favorite. I wish you could review the Taurus PT92 one great gun, It's in stainless steel.

I'm 96% sure that I will get a Springfield XD9. It's either going to be the 4 inch barrel or this subcompact. I just need to rent the sub-compact to make my decision.

@@countryboyreviews Finally shot the XD9 Subcompact. It’s a fairly nice shooter but I’m more accurate with the Service Model XD. I’m now somewhat as accurate with my brother’s Glock 19 Gen 5 as the XD Service Model. However, I’ll still choose the XD Sub-compact over the Model Service because of how compact it is. It’d be my back up gun. My main will be a Glock 19 Gen 3 (I’m in CA that’s why it’s Gen 3 while my brother can have the G19 Gen 5 since he’s a cop).

Same with my xds i prefer the grip saftey on my original over my mod 2. I like the mod 2 triggers alot better though myself.

Is this XD9 you're reviewing in this video the same as XD® 3″ SUB-COMPACT 9MM? Only reason I ask is because on the springfield website it shows the XD® 3″ SUB-COMPACT 9MM as a 10 round clip not 13 +1

Outside USA its sold as HS produkt Defender, it is made in Croatia. Even all xd pistols are made im Croatia.
