This Video takes place in Heron Bay during a strong springtime East Wind. We catch a few fish on a Zman Ned Shrimp and Southern Salt Hoodwink, and on the way back have to brave the conditions getting back across the bay.

You found some good trout in those creeks. I always enjoyed fishin that area.

Thanks buddy, yeah I love exploring those marsh mazes also. I’ve always wondered if the really big trout over 25” ever get in creeks like that. I’ve caught upper teens but never any big gals.

Glad you are safe! Wind more than anything else worries me on the water. After seeing you stay put in that wind, I'm gonna be getting an anchor pole soon. Good catches, I've not caught a trout or a red yet. Looking forward to seeing y'all next weekend!!

The anchor stick helps out tremendously if you need to stay put as long it’s not sandy. Gets hard to stick it through sand. That wind was brutal that day. Very educational experience on where to never go back to on a hard east wind. Looking forward to Fish River also, we need this rain to chill out a few days before the tournament so the water level can be right.

is that an old LEw's rod from the 70's??

Haha pretty close, the reel is a mid 1980s Abu ambassador XLT and the rod is a bull bay shorty. It’s designed to be a modern day take on the old pistol grip. Most of my casting is close quarters so I prefer a shorter handle and rod when I can get away with it. It’s difficult to find a quality pistol grip anymore. But that’s a good one. The older reels have less bearings to go bad from salt water and are easy to clean and service. Good eye!
