Which Bike: BMX, Track or MTB will be the fastest in a man to man Sprint Battle on different distances?
That question is what we: Jeffrey Hoogland, Justin Kimmann and Jeroen van Eck asked ourselves as well. So we came together on the abandon airstrip in Soesterberg, big thanks to them for giving us permission and letting us film this footage.
Action guaranteed with huge power numbers and great battles till the last centimeters.
Enjoy & let us know in the comments below what you think!
Cheers,
Justin, Jeffrey & Jeroen

I'm grateful to say I never lost my way of life since my youth... I had to put it on pause while I served in the 25th Infantry. I damn near lived in the jungle, so I had no choice. But my first purchase when I got home was a BMX bike... I just turned 50 this month and I still BMX, MTB, and road cycle. I pulled my skateboard out and skated with my kids lastnight. My girls are stoked they have a dad they can do all kinds of things with. They have friends who wish they did... It is sad that some people have to stop doing things like that cause life gets in the way. I had to learn to shuffle things if I still wanted to do all the things I've always loved to do. I'm very grateful for that.

@@johnnyboy3357 I agree... My boss is a personal friend and he sometimes disagrees with my extracurricular activities. I've been out of work a couple of times due to injuries for up to 3 weeks. I actually just got back to work this past Monday after recovering from an injury for the second time in a year. I'm 50 so the healing process takes a little longer now. Haha! Pretty sure I'll be on the layoff list the next time it comes around. I'm cool with that! Haha!

I once saw a group of guys on road bikes while I was street- BMXing on my college campus. I decided to sprint up and ride a manual once I got along side of them. They all smiled and seemed to think it was cool. A few seconds later, a bunch of people standing along side the road were all yelling at me. Turns out there was an organized race going on and I had inadvertently found my way onto the course. Haha

Skipping to those parts instantly will take away at least 50% from the whole fun of the video. Why are you people so much in a hurry not to have time to calmly watch an 11-minute fun video? The track bike was in such a high gear. I'd have opted for a medium chain ring and made up for it witb high cadence. I used to ride a very similar bike, with the only difference being it was a roadie with 6 gears. I messed with my gearing on that bike as my front derailer went bad.... My top speed I got while drafting at around 45 mph at an almost stupid cadence, however I beat every BMX rider Ik in acceleration
@albr4
@albr4 3 жыл бұрын
the track cyclist would smash all of them if his chainring was smaller, his chainring is so big that it takes 150m to pedal at a normal cadence
@BMWN54N55
@BMWN54N55 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's same thing with my road bike too I have a big 58t chainring on the front with 11t cassette in the back and on that gear it's so slow at acceleration but once I put into a much lower gear it accelerates really quickly because I converted it to only 9 speed because of upgrading from a 50t to 58t its a 2021 Giant contend 3 so the back sprockets are 11t up to a 32t in the back so if you put it in like a way lower gear and still be on the 58t chainring it flies in acceleration I got it up to 31 mph on a flat road in 56 degrees weather and a little windy so I'm gonna try when it gets way warmer out to raise that top speed to 35 to 40 mph on a flat road
@BMWN54N55
@BMWN54N55 2 жыл бұрын
My Race Bmx has 39t sprocket in the front and 9t cassette in the back and on the same day went 30.5 mph on a flat but in way better and warmer weather conditions with that gearing with strong enough legs it should be able to do 35 to 37 mph on a flat but I gotta build my legs up to that

Difference over 100m between gear ratio 39x20 down to 39x12 (still a long way off 62x16) is in the range of 0,6 seconds according to Kyle/Mastropaolo. With gearing along the way there's still an advantage over 125m possible in the same range. Again Kyle with his invention called The Browning Automatic Transmission. But technical progress especially concerning off-road bikes since then really expanded. Track cycling is much more about aerodynamics and in sprint about power, but Eddy Merckx would up to a few kilometers lose from real teenage girls, that is with of cause their current track bikes. it's not, that the world since then has seen a huge shift of power towards girls and women.🤣

I tried it already, same gear inches but with different teeth combination, the smaller chainring is lighter excluding consideration of rim size, example like 38/14 and 52/19 the lower teeth is lighter even though they're the same 2.7 ratio, affecting power output is a huge factor in a sprint depending on the rider strength to turn a chainring size ratio

The fastest longevity runs will always go to the road/track type of bike but it can't do much but just ride on a clean paved road, the mountain bike is great for literally anything and it can take jumps and it has a good speed for longevity too, and the BMX has a killer short run speed and is easier to do tricks and can take jumps too. But overall I prefer a mountain bike all day everyday, even for days when I keep it simple on paved roads.

Nice, torque vs power, if im not wrong BMX has high torque, MTB has a good combination among torque and HP and the TRACK has a big HP. Saludos desde México!!!
@TheVelodroom
@TheVelodroom 3 жыл бұрын
After barely 25m the BMX rider and MTB rider were already on cadence 135+. The equivalent for TRACK would be 66km/h. So, TRACK had clearly the most torque to overcome and not the two other riders, and the MTB also did shift gears so could gain extra meters.
