SwimSwam took a visit to Baton Rouge, where the LSU tigers are in full swing of their winter training. This Monday PM practice was focusing on relay takeovers as well as a little bit of anaerobic endurance. The men and women would switch from relay exchanges to speed work, using a shower loofah (instead of a typical swim parachute) for resistance. Head coach Rick Bishop likes the loofah as opposed to a parachute because you can swim at top speed with resistance without it hindering technique.

did the LSU coaching staff give a rationale for the loofahs? Looks like it was set up like a parachute. Is it similar resistance? Does the resistance change as the loofah becomes fully saturated?

nick mahabir started it i think, its supposed to work like a parachute except it doersnt sink

After watching the videos of the Foster brothers at a meet at Alabama, i say Alabama is worse. At least as LSU has a separate diving well and doesn't need lane lines to divide the pool. It has a regular platform to divide it.
