the reverse lights flash too when you put it in first, crafters do it too! look out for it in traffic

That generation of sprinters have a 2 stage wiper lever. Pull gently for just wipers, pull hard and it'll click past a stop to activate the washers too.

Just disconnect the rear battery mate. Cables only become live with engine running and split charge relay makes contact.

The engine battery is in the passenger footwell. If you find a battery in the engine bay it'll be an auxiliary battery. At least you've got cruise control. Probably its best feature. You can change gear without it deactivating.

Are you sure the speedo wasn't changed at some stage. Looking at the wear on the steering wheel it looks like the van has a much much bigger mileage than what it says on the clock.

Look how many sprinters are rust buckets on the road. Then try to find a rusty Ducato or Relay or Boxer

My pal has a sprinter camper I think it’s a year 2000 model, hasn’t missed a beat, it’s been well maintained and apart from the dated furnishings is extremely comfortable and durable, I purchased a Ford transit connect lwb on a 68 plate, last year, top spec done 149,000 but had engine replaced by Ford under warranty in 2022, had it 2 months and the turbo intake pipe needed replacing, and a forced dpf regen, then from January it started to rattle, in the top end of the engine, so had 3 injectors replaced, but it still rattled…… it was driving me insane, I had plans to drive to Spain in it, I had sleepless nights over it, I decided to have the cambelt replaced and again the rattle was still there, the mechanic put his FDRS Fords diagnostic tool on it, and could see the engine was demanding too much fuel into each injector, the PCM was cleared of faults, and all adaptations cleared, high pressure fuel pump reset, and injectors recoded and re learned. The van now drives like the day it came out the factory, don’t give up and keep Pushing on, I had cancer in 2022 and a stem cell transplant last year, since then I overthink things, and know I need to calm down, I think you have a great van there, which needs to be adapted to your own personal use, Drive it and enjoy it.

I wouldn't touch a Merc with a bargepole and to a lesser extent a VW. They are full of problems which cost a fortune to diagnose let alone fix. I don't see the point of a hightop either as a shower requires length too. 9 years ago I bought an 08 Vivaro to convert and it is a dream to drive and so cheap to fix, 450 for a new clutch fitted. Just lacking a shower it does everything well for £5000 including the conversion. Parks in multistorey cars parks and Cat1 on French autoroutes. We have put 70k miles on the clock around Europe and spent 150 nights cooking most of our meals. A great van lacking only a "cool image" which is a bit like me at 72.

If you don’t like it why did you buy it, if you do a bit of research you will see the Sprinter is probably the best van on the road. So with that in mind stop complaining & enjoying it..
