Nice work. I dont think a lot of people would have gone to the trouble and give their time to provide this information. Stay humble.

Hi from the UK. George this kind of quick video is sooooo useful and not just to the person you made it for. The recent one with side by side split screen van width/height comparisons was great too. For some people numbers on a data page just look like code after a few reads back and forth between brochures. Your clear explanation and graphics are spot on my friend. Thank you for posting these. John.

Thanks! That's helpful. Seeing that step in the Sprinter vs. none in the Promaster seals the deal. So much easier with a ramp with no step.
@avivamae51714 жыл бұрын
Hey Heather, a lot of people cover up most of the step and leave just a small part of it open to use. Just mentioning it because it might be easier to move the wheelchair in if 70% of the step was covered. Only wanted to let you know so you have options if you need it. The promaster entry is also closer to the ground if that matters to you. Cheers!
@kaneda44 жыл бұрын
i believe there is also a sprinter that has no step 4x2 FWD not 4X4 tho
@avivamae51714 жыл бұрын
@@kaneda4 all of the high roof sprinters have the inside step, even the passenger vans it's because all of the sprinters are rear wheel drive or 4x4 so the body is raised to accommodate the drive shaft, that's also why the promaster doesn't have the step and is closer to the ground because it's a front wheel drive van so no need to accommodate the drive shaft.
@mrskm2u4 жыл бұрын
@@avivamae5171 Thanks, it does matter. The shorter the entry, the shorter/lighter ramp we will need.

What other custom van builder would go through such detailed steps and produce a video to support a question from a follower? Answer=nobody but George at Humble Road. Video documentation is like Gold! I'm sure this will answer questions for many others out there as well. Thanks George!

That was a good video but as someone who has been driving an ambulette in Westchester NY i would go for the narrowest parts top and side. Thank you for sharing ... I've been watching your videos since before you officially moved to your shop.. Love everything you do.. Especially since my fiance and I lived in a van and now an RV..but might be going back to a van lol

Love all your videos. Do you have any tips on how to shop for a van to convert, particularly Promaster 3500.
@zacharydrew23884 жыл бұрын
It would also be super to have the inside van width at the top (as I understand the promaster has less taper than the sprinter) and also the exterior roof dimensions for purposes of installing solar panels without having them hang over. I have a sprinter with 900 watts of solar on the roof that fit within the dimensions of the roof track for sleek look, but it was very difficult to obtain panels that allowed for this and unfortunately the company than made them (ten k solar) has gone out of business. As I understand it the promaster has a wider roof which makes it very easy to achieve higher wattage roof panels (the roof being wider it can fit standard residential panels.) One final measurement your viewers could find useful would be the step up height of the sprinter vs promaster.

Where did you learn to do this awesome work that you do what was your first one that you did I’m using a casino shuttle van and using some of your ideas to build it thank you so much for all your videos
@HumbleRoad4 жыл бұрын
My first build was a Sprinter 3500 170 EXT window van. I prefer factory window vans. Next was a Promaster 3500 159 EXT. Now I have a Sprinter 3500 4x4 170WB and a Promaster 3500 159 EXT window van. I will eventually build a shuttle bus.

Hi, I found out about the 80/20 Extrusions through your channel. I am repairing my Coach House Class B+ floor and I want to use the extrusions to reinforce the floor in the damaged area. Also, I don't want to use plywood again because I found a massive deterioration due to a water leak between the plywood and the vinyl. How can I learn more about the extrusions applications? I don't use Facebook and in You Tube so far your channel the most informative. I have already ordered the extrusions and I am waiting on delivery (it takes almost two weeks).
@HumbleRoad4 жыл бұрын
Not sure to what extent your rapid is, structurally. But you could also use aluminum square tubing and 3M 5200 or PL Marine adhesive.
@joebailey41064 жыл бұрын
The floor of the chassis (450 Ford) is steel frame and the Coach is a one piece fiberglass. I am trying to avoid to put any wood on the floor, so I was thinking to put PVC poly wall panel on top of the steel grid and the 80/20 over it with the insulation in between the extrusions and a vinyl waterproof floor on top.
@HumbleRoad4 жыл бұрын
Joe Bailey sure that will work but laying 8020 under the floor is a costly route. I learned that myself. You can use aluminum square tube thick walled for structure

Thank you George for taking the time to help out, I really appreciate it.

Hi George. Is this going to be a wheelchair lift or ramp? As per ADA slope for ramps are 1inch rise : 12 inch distance and 36 inches wide. Promaster I think may have an advantage because of their lower load floor.
@HumbleRoad3 жыл бұрын
I did not get involved with the details of the mechanism. Just provided dimensions.
@wvlemures3 жыл бұрын
It is also important to know the height from the ground to the floor to give you an idea of a ramp length or for a lift.

The dimensions I need, that you can't find _anywhere,_ is the width (from the driver to passenger wallsides) of the 2 vans, at cupboard height, both at the point approximately where you would typically place the bottom of a cupboard, and up near the ceiling, where the top of a cupboard would mount. (Edit: Basically, the same measurements you took in the last video, but instead of at 'bed' height, at the ceiling height, and at a point approximately halfway between the ceiling and 'bed' height.)
@juliemac56044 жыл бұрын
Have you gone to their websites? A lot of those specs are shown in the technical drawings
@hippyjason4 жыл бұрын
@@juliemac5604 Despite much Googling, I haven't found a PM drawing that had those exact two spots documented. I did find a Sprinter drawing that had just the top, ceiling measurement, but even then, it still did not list a dimension for where the bottom of the cupboards would be.
