Episode #46 - The van build renovations start! This week we had our new sliding windows fitted. More light, more ventilation... we couldn't be happier! Now we just need to frame them before we continue with the rest of the interior. Except, we haven't framed big windows like this before.

That sliding mechanism is the best, and of course a shout out for the perfection of the operation of said mechanism!!! A lot of work ahead, cant wait for the next installments. Just one question, could you not have kept the framing for the small window and painted it?? Anyway take care and stay safe xx

Hey guys have you considered putting some sort of removable bars on those windows they are a particularly easy entry point to what will be your home, stay safe

Yes! Ben and I were actually talking about this yesterday! We tried wedging some battens in to see how it would work, and we think it would do the job really well. Thanks for the heads up, we'll let you know how we get on with those.

Wish I had found you guys sooner. Currently watching this playlist after I had watched your first build. I've just done a vivaro and I'm now planning on doing a lwb merc or crafter, not sure which one yet. But your vids are really useful. As I said I wish I had seen you earlier because I could have let you know where the best places in Derby were to buy wood etc. Will be watching all your vids the next few weeks and catching up with you. 😊 cheers Andy (from Derby)

Hello beautiful people! I have to start by saying you guys are geniuses! Those windows look perfect! I love watching you both work together. You both compliment each other in such positive ways. Sophia is going to be awesome! Africa is on my bucket list. You guys are both intelligent people and will have an amazing adventure traveling threw one of the most beautiful places on earth. I’m so impressed with the extra windows and good idea on the yacht varnish! Ben is so skilled at making stuff, but his go at the insulation sticking made me chuckle 😂😂. I lost count on how many times you said “closed cell insulation after 6” 😂😂.

Haha we’ve got complimentary skills, it’s what makes us a good team! Yeah we are so happy with the windows. Did you know we used closed cell insulation on the window surrounds?! 🤪

You need a Pasload pin gun to put all that panelling on it saves vibration and hammer marks. Did you get my message on insta about some really good things to take on the affrica trip that will save you in many ways. A grease gun for the drive shaft knuckles. If you fit a winch on the front there's this thing called a off road ground anchor. It literally anchors to the ground and can pull the van out of holes without the use of trees and any structures. Definitely something to think about.

I always leave a like as I know it makes a difference to your channel but what I cannot understand is at the time of leaving this comment you have had 67,720 views btu only 295 likes. Do you guys get lots of condensation between the insulation and metal of the van? I seem to be getting lots here! I know weather hasn’t been great but just wondering if you get that problem too?

Hey, no we don't have any condensation between the insulation and the metal... have you vapour sealed your insulation?

We've started seeing it in our van on the bare metal of the roof in recent weeks, but we've not fitted all our insulation yet or put the vapour barrier on top. I figure that once the vapour barrier for the ceiling is in, that the moisture in the air will just condense on the highest metal points it can find. It must just be the constantly damp air and extra cold temps 🙁

Not at all! The tyres will have a tread that leaves tracks like a gazelle, we’ll paint her with black and white stripes, and every time we blow the horn, Toto plays!
