I use the straight edge of the loom stand legs as a guide to cut my fringe straight. I did some fringe recently that was different colors of fringe layered over black. I used both stand legs and sort of sandwiched the yarn between them to act as a guide and keep me from accidentally cutting one of the black yarns behind the colored yarn. Worked really well!

Beautiful design! Love how simple and aesthetic it looks. My only suggestion regarding the video is that perhaps those speed-up parts would be a tiny bit slower? It's so relaxing to watch you repeat those steps you already explained, and also gives us more time to follow them :) ♥

This was very informative! I don’t suppose you have a tutorial for weaving a simple dishcloth by chance, do you? I was gifted a small lap loom, about 8” x 8”, and thought a nice cotton washcloth/dishcloth would be a good first project. Thanks!

This was such a great tutorial. Very minimalist, but still beautiful, some technical advice, and an overall creativity boost. I might make one like this. One question, how do you know how hard to beat down on the rows or weaving?

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! How hard to beat comes with practice, and also depends on what kind of look you're going for. Traditional tapestry is a weft face cloth, which means the warp is completely hidden. In this tutorial, it's closer to a balanced weave, which means the warp strings per inch, and the weft strings per inch are similar. I'm personally not very technical on this when it comes to woven wall hangings, and I just use my eye.

I don't find the merino yarn in your shop. So, I have alpacas and I spin yarn and my questions is about the yarn. It almost looks to me like a thick spun yarn, but not plied. That would allow you to remove some of the spin or twist in the yarn. Would this be correct? Loved this video and your teaching is wonderful.

Unfortunately this particular yarn was discontinued, it is commonly referred to as pencil roving, it's a single ply yarn with very little twist 😊
