Welcome back to the Scrap Mechanic Challenge Mode! Today we are tackling the next batch of challenges from 30 through 33. We have one of the most difficult challenges so far requiring a vehicle that can fit between a 4 block wide gap AND over a 20 block wide gap. Then we have our first spud gun challenges, which require us to build a fully working spud turret with moving targets!

My skinny-wide solution used two large wheels like a motorcycle and then had a third tiny wheel that extended out to the side. The big wheels are wide enough to balance on easily.

I would have used the 3 block seat, and had a centre line of blocks on the vehicle. For steering you use one block with a wheel on either side, then extend a post from the top with a single steering bearing on top which attaches to the vehicle body.

you can complete the first challenge you attempted by making a 3 block wide vehicle and still have it small enough to fit under the high restriction platform. you can pretty much make it a 4 wheeler motorbike that uses bearings to raise and lower itself slightly.

My first vehicle for the skinny/wide challenge was similar to yours but used 2 pistons to expand whole vehicle instead of each weel which allowed me to have the wheels lined up like normal. I also built a vehicle that could go under that flat gap, that was very difficult especially since I wanted it to be only 3 wide so it wouldn't rub on the wall so that meant that I had to have a second set off weels ( which ended up being pipes due t space issues) the axles of the wheels was on a being so I could turn it so it was parallel to the vehicle when not in use and then had pitons for each weel so it could expand for the wide section , and I hade to rotate the seat and engines flat with a bearing for the flat section . it was a weird vehicle and didn't work that great on the wide part since I ran out of bearings so only to of the pipes were engine powered

You could just do double bearing system that counter each other to widen your car but keeping the wheels same trajectory

For the skinny/wide challenge, I was able to get my vehicle 3 blocks wide by turning them vertically with a bearing, then I could ride against the walls.

You probably could have avoided the problem with the offset wheels by putting them on short bars then extending those bars with the extra pistons

That's how I did it. :3 Could probably have used only 2 pistons with that method, but still used 4 because it looked better. My roommate made a motorcycle that actually passed the gap by going fast on one side of the hole.

Challenge 30 You can use the screws as wheels in a combination of spaghetti piping to get in-line wheels I got mine to three blocks btw and for the spud gun challenges, I used the pipes to make a makeshift iron sight. lmao. with two seats.

For the fisrt challenge in this video i used 4 pistons to elevate the car, and 4 bearings with a controller to change the angle of every "leg", and form like an A when you see it from the frontal view.

the skinny wide challenge was so easy. in the last video when u were showing it off I was able to come up with a vehicle that could be used in that level i wish i could show u guys a picture of that vehicle but i cant because this is youtube comments so yh and its hard to explain

just a suggestion that the car in the 1st challenge could have been in an X shape and have a bearing in the middle to contract, i dunno but surprisingly what you made was amazing

For the narrow passage i would have put two wheels in line and had the third one that can move out, kinda like a motorbike with an expanding sidecar, instead of trying to move all four. Though come to think of it the pistons only go 15 out and the gap was 20. Maybe stacked pistons? For steering make an L that comes above the wheel and pivot it instead of taking up space on the side of the wheel with the whole mechanism. Still, looking forward to more episodes. Seems like the challenges are getting rather tough there near the end.

if your wheels are 3 blocks apart, and you expand them 15 blocks, you at 18 blocks apart, enough to go over the gap. i made mine 3 blocks wide with three wheels and one piston, using the pipe pieces. it worked EXACTLY like your motorcycle side car idea.

On the first one you only need to expand 1 side out and could have made it 3 wide by having block, piston, block and then on the side of the second block you go back 3 and to the side 3 and attach the wheel and steering there.

Dude Wen I did it I made a 3 wide bike. You don’t need the pistons because you can balance on the edge of the platform.

You should have used the controller not the pistons, make a vehicle that has a stilts and when pressed a button will convert it into a really wide and flat car
