Coach Nick focused on the last 3 minutes of regulation and all of overtime, pointing out the scintillating plays and head scratching mistakes made. While the Spurs were not immune to some blunders, the Thunder committed more of them, and went down in defeat.

qxTHIEFxp Nice thought but in the NBA at least (I would assume) 50% of a coaches jobs is player and personality management. For this you need a lot of times a very well decorated college/NBA coach or a former NBA player.

"Curiously, no call" Ibaka's block was all hand no ball. The goaltending no call. The obvious clear path became a common foul (Fisher on Manu) These are game changing "mistakes" by the ref.

I would be surprised if Presti underpays the coaching position for his young core moving forward. He did a great job landing his athletes but if he doesn't pony up for a REAL coach after this offseason, I have to wonder his commitment for winning a championship. And the west doesn't get any easier with teams who keep getting closer to being complete and are just ready for a playoff run.

ChMystery12 I rather say Westbrook is much worse in bad shots. He is a ball hog and frequently makes bone-headed moves. Thunders now really needs a good play maker now. At least they should not let Harden go. Harden is a much better passer than Westbrook and Harden always plays well against Spurs

That 2014 Finals was an epic beatdown.
@razkable
@razkable 7 жыл бұрын
the spurs didnt sweep so no.... if you lose a game its not a beatdown...teams that sweep like the 2002 lakers is what I call a beatdown...and the spurs could have lost games 1 and 2 at home if the ac didnt go out forcing lebron to miss the last 10 minutes ...miami was up until lebron went out...that changed nba history imo...miami should have gone home up 2-0...so no...game 4 was a beat down....and miami gave up in game 5 after the 1st quarter but they led by 10 in that game too... only reason they lost game 3 and 4 was cause mario chalmers and norris cole didnt show up and the heat coaches didnt insert battier or beasly at all ...morons...they didnt adjust...chalmers and norris combined for 7 points a game and both played over 24 minutes each....they scored mostly in garbage time...they made a combined 1 shot in the first half of games 3-4...amazing....that is just amazing...3 made shots combined in the first 3 quarters of both games ...that is just sad...that is just 6 points in 6 quarters between 2 of your main 8 players at home......wow....and their defense was a joke...they were turning it over like crazy too....combined 7 turnovers a game...miami would have won if they played with their size and just benched their useless point guards...lebron and wade should have brought the ball up...

I almost had to vomit when i heard Avery Johnson on Espn today talk about what a great job Scott Brooks is doing and how he still believes that they can get it done with Brooks as their head coach, i really don't get it why ppl try to defend this man so much he has a stacked team and they still don't get it done in the postseason. I look at the Thunder's bench and i see a ton of talent, that just wasn't used properly by Scott Brooks, sure you can't hope for these guys to have much success doing isolations or shooting tough contested 3s, like the ones Durant and Westbrook take constantly, but i didn't think the Spurs bench was much better in terms of talent, its just that Pop put these lesser players in positions to succeed and Brooks didn't which was why the bench was so ineffective. Playing Durant and Westbrook 45 minutes a game will not lead to success, period! Look at the Miami heat, their bench isn't that much better in my opinion either, but Spoelstra understands how to get these role players to produce on both ends of the court, which again is something Brooks can't do. For example i didn't understand why he didn't use Perry Jones hardly at all, the guy can play or how does it happen that Sefolosha goes from being a starter to not even playing for them, just because he couldn't hit the couple wide open looks he got at the beginning of the series, to me it was coaching criminality how Brooks managed that bench and his rotation or lack thereof, that's just not championship worthy in my opinion. I felt for the OKC player after the game caus they clearly gave it their all, so i hope that they will get rid of Scott Brooks and hire someone that will push them to that next level.

At the end of the video, Coach Nick says one of the Thunder's best hopes is to wait until the Spurs get too old. The very next season, the Warriors got Steve Kerr as coach, and they turned from a good playoff-level team into a super flame-throwing team that's nearly unstoppable. The Spurs are getting older, but OKC will have a hard time getting to the Finals because the young Warriors are now the new kings on the block. Which is perhaps why Durant is considering joining them.

Um except Durant is never going to be on the warriors because he's an expensive player to have on the team.
@BlueAndGold31
@BlueAndGold31 8 жыл бұрын
ShadowLinkX True, he is expensive. But the very fact that there's so much speculation (even out of the Warriors camp) of getting Durant this offseason means they're at least considering getting him. Although they'd have to get rid of contracts like Bogut's and Iguodala's at the very least. But you can bet their front office is considering building their future around an outstanding core of Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Durant. Although, that could all change if the Warriors repeat as champions. Why change a formula that has gotten back-to-back rings? But if the Warriors fall to the Spurs this year, I could see them going after KD.

I see your point, but we'll see when the time comes. I don't know how KD would do on the Warriors. And I hope the Warriors do fall to the Spurs this year.

michael kilo Wow, you're right. Man, I should apply to be an ESPN analyst. Should be really interesting next season with the Warriors' super-team to see how they do under scrutiny instead of being the fun-loving happy-go-lucky team they used to be. But with that much shooting and athleticism and defense on the team, the new villains of the NBA will actually be pretty fun basketball to watch.

Coach, can you make a review about the indiana pacers in earley season and the lastest games of the season and the post season to compare?
@PacerFederation
@PacerFederation 10 жыл бұрын
That was the best review I have seen on any two team in the post-season by single-handedly picking apart possession after possession and exposing the strengths and weakness of both ball clubs. In this case you really wonder who is in charge of OKC - the players, coaching staff, or just have the players thrown into a fire and let them put it out on their own. It really doesn't make sense. I give a lot of credit to the spurs organization for placing fundamental team-work and playmaking as priority. This year it paid off. As a side-note - I used to play with a team-mate much like a westbrook in a Filipino basketball league - And they are not fun to play for. You will never see the ball in your hand, and you don't care if the ball goes in at a certain point. You almost expect it, because how often the ball is in their hands, which also means at the end of games too - whether it is a good idea or bad idea. These two teams are the perfect antithesis in the post-season

Great vid Nick, I'm a clippers fan but happy the spurs one the championship, they truly deserved it. Definitely the smartest and best passing team in the league, as displayed here and coach pop is just a genius. You're absolutely right, OKC lack the decision making skills to be a true championship team which is why they have come close recently, but choked in finals. Can't wait to see more of Khawi in the future, he's a huge talent. In my opinion OKC need to get rid of Brooks, and go for a fresh start coaching wise. Keep up the great work coach. :)

ronnoC Should be swapping Perkins for LBJ, Wade, Bosh, Allen, heat first round pick, and some cash. Cause Perkins is Shaq's new faviouite player as evidenced by him putting Perkins in his show over and over again.

ronnoC I'm assuming the OP wants to OKC to do a Rondo-Westbrook trade straight up, but I'm sure the C's aren't interested, as they want to rebuild around Rondo. And Westbrook, well let's face it, with no clear cut superstar on the C's, Westbrook will be taking 40 shots a game, and run the unselfish team philosophy that Brad Stevens has into the ground. I'm a C's fan, and no way would I do Rondo for Westbrook.

Without Russ, OKC will chok cause his contribution in the transition game was big for OKC, and with Scott Brook as the coach, Rondo can't do anything cause there is little to no offensive set.
