From the mean streets of Hackney, Stoke Newington and south London to the even meaner streets of New York’s South Bronx, Chris Eubank was sent to America by his father so he could get some peace and quiet! There, Eubank made a fresh start after battling many demons and cleaning up his act. And, in his spare time, he trained at the Jerome Boxing Club, where he caught the boxing bug and boy, could he box.
Eubank went on to become champion of the world, and now, so has his son. Never in the history of British boxing has such a feat been achieved before. But he didn't just wage war in the ring, he fought war outside it too. Most memorably when, in the run-up to the illegal and disastrous war on Iraq, he pulled up in Trafalgar Square in his magnificent big, blue anti-war truck and spoke out against Tony Blair. So, this week we invited the iconic Chris Eubank into the Sputnik studio to take an in-depth look at one of the world's greatest fighters, and the many complexities of this far from run-of-the-mill personality.

Chris Eubank comes across as an intelligent, thinking, soulful, loving and humble man. I love his use of common sense. What a brilliant example of what being human actually is. I can't help but admire him totally, especially for his concern for his children.

I'm in tears. Chris Eubank is one of my favourite people, and certainly my favourite sportsman. I think I've seen every interview he has had on KZfaq, but none have allowed him to open up like this. I particularly appreciated the question relating to his relationship with his brothers now, as he has often talked about his reason being in boxing in the first place was to gain the respect of his brothers, but this is the first time I have seen the follow up question, "What is your relationship like with your brothers now". Thanks for this George. A fan from Belfast.

Despite expressing regret for his public opposition to the war, people are judged by what they do and not by what they say. I wonder who made him suffer for something he turned out to be right to disagree.

The only problem I have ever had with Eubank is his constant attempt to punch above his weight verbally. Why cant this guy just accept his academic limitations and speak in normal simple terms. There is no shame in that. Drop the act. It’s embarrassing. As an anti-war activist and a sportsman and an example of mental determination and good health he is miles ahead. But as a speaker he is deluded.

If you and I both made a sponge cake , we would both use different ingredients the cake might look the same but it would taste different, Chris Eubank decided to be a different kind of fighter, he ingredients was to be well read and portray himself differently, to simply critisce one of his ingredients or traits makes no sense, as this is one of the reason we are all watching him, it's part of his greatness. All people have greatness in them which is due to there own brillance and individuality.
