I can't say more than others have said here. The pace of information and speech and the completeness from how you determine the direction of the market each day to more than one way to close out the order made for a complete one-stop shopping video for 0 DTE Trades. You have a gift!

Definitely a video series would be awesome, by you - this topic is spot on and selling premium is by far in our (trader) favor. Managing risk is critical and the key - for the times (15-20% worse case depending on factors) the trade didn't work out, as you say, you buy back before max loss; when you add it all up, though, equity curve up is all that matters and NO ONE gets it right every time, so expect and do the practice of closing out at YOUR profit % - increase this if you want over time and see how well you do, ie, adjust % profit as you see fit within your allo and risk tolerance. Thanks again, Brian - please do a series. Best, Dan

I do 0DTE balanced FLY's, which are two stacked verticals, 20 up to 50 points wide on SPX later in the day between 1pm and 3pm EST. , noting the average of the highest open interest call and put strikes at market open, then note the highest volume averages between the call and put strikes on the options chain and the options time and sales through the day for an pin estimate close to your 2 short strikes. When gamma increases slowly and follows a strike within those averages I am usually within 5 points of the close or when I close the trade. Low implied vol. makes the spread more expensive compared to higher implied volatility/expected moves. Usually works better during balancing days rather than rip your face off rallies or dumps. I usually close the FLY close to market close rather than waiting for the EOD close on SPX at 4pm before the late day bots and market makers scratch portions of your winnings. You don't lose money on share assignment if you close the shares ASAP. Use the 8/21 exponential moving averages on a 30 minute chart when they cross that is usually the bigger move. Stop losses on spreads usually do not work. The VIX is not something I watch because it can change quicker than what your trading, it is either on or off. The analyze tab does not show the reality of the trade because it is an average due to Time, price, Greeks, and implied volatility changes every 30 minutes intraday or till expiration long term.

Finally, a real person making it easy to understand, sans the couple glitches, and giving some reality to it all. Well done. I day trade the ODTE as well using Iron Condors with basically the same setup premise. Find a range, pick an outside the expected high/low and let it run with theta being your friend. The reason I take always take it off prior to the last half hour is because when all the theta is gone gamma/vega become a huge risk. A serious EOD move can evaporate profits quickly.

@@VoidRealms You probably know this, but that happens because all if the extrinsic value is gone from the OTM options. It's all intrinsic meaning the price of the option will move right along with the price of the underlying and any serious move spikes gamma/vega which then spikes the delta of that OTM option which explodes the price of the option. Add in the spike of IV in that kind of move and what was a good trade goes bye-bye in a hurry. Just not worth the risk to hang around for a few extra bucks.

When does the epiphany dawn that instead of capping gains w/ inefficient cap utility lockup why not put asymmetry IN ONE'S FAVOR as opposed to AGAINST by outlaying small debits with anywhere from 0.5x to 10x returns w/ superior capital utility efficiency fraction of total acct (ROI and ROE are huge that way), CAPTURING trend momentum delta/gamma explosion wiping the floor w/ paltry theta gains comparatively

Al ways good to hear another perspective. I liked that you talked about paper money. In the paper trade I have made about 25,000 so far this January! When I go to real money, I lose. I don’t understand and actually called TD and was told they fill and act exactly the same but your explanation makes more sense! I do like to do credit spreads but I use condors! As the market changes so much, I like having a trade that isn’t necessarily dependent on direction. I usually do a condor at the 10 and 3% deltas. I do like your ideas and would like to get more information. I, like you a just an everyday guy who needs to make a little more for lot supplement my retirement. Great stuff though! Look forward to seeing more. I did see the 8 ball theory but haven’t watched it yet!

The squeeze isn't really designed to be used on a 1 min time frame. Really it's designed to be used on multiple time frames with overlapping squeezes. The change in color of the bars is an indication that the strength of the move is changing. The squeeze happens when there is a consolidation and the dots turn red. When you have squeezes on the 15, 30, hourly and daily time frames, the stock is getting ready for a larger than expected move. That's what the squeeze is designed to detect. Movements that are unexpected and not already priced into the option premium. If you're using small time frames, you're not benefitting from the genius of the ttm squeeze.

Thanks for sharing. Why do you take previous day's close price instead of current day's high and low? If there is an opening gap, it is going to skew the range. I don't know why after establishing the mean and knowing the direction of trend, you want to do credit spread. You can very well go for directional trades with slightly OTM strikes with a SL at the mean.

As someone who has been trading SPX 0 DTE for about 5 months and using TOS and being self-taught, this was an excellent video. I agree with you it's probably going to be confusing for people who aren't as far along on the experience scale. Couple of questions if you don't mind: 1) is your loss strategy just to take the max loss? or more often you are setting a breakeven loss or something that's still a loss but not the max loss? I know you demonstrated setting a breakeven Stop-loss level, but then you mentioned you don't really do that, so It was hard to tell from the video what your actual approach is to loss level for a given trade. Since you're choosing probability OTM levels between 50% and 80% roughly, I would think that to consistently generate profits you would have to take losses that are less than the max loss, but can you please clarify? 2) it was very interesting to see that you establish your "market direction" decision after just the first 15 minutes of the market -- in my 4 months of doing this, it seems like very frequently the market will whipsaw around for the first 30 mins to 1 hour. So I guess this has been working for you? 3) in the spreadsheet you showed, there was only one losing trade. I realize that a 0 DTE SPX options strategy will produce a high win rate, but but since your risk / reward profile is around 3 to 1, it seems unrealistic that you would have dozens of wins and only a single loss. I must be misunderstanding something. Can you clarify? Thanks, and again, excellent presentation.

Brian, enjoyed the 0 DTE presentation. Like you I'm an amateur looking into this type of strategy. As you mention I have zero interest in buying any course or program. If they were making money they would not be trying to sell it. I'm very interested in learning more especially the actual setup. I know you say the first 15 minutes give you direction and then you get in after that or when do you get in ? Because after the first 15 minutes the market can go up and down with no decisive direction. Any help or a Video explaining more would be great. thanks!
@VoidRealms
@VoidRealms 2 жыл бұрын
That's basically the the foundation of it all is the first 15 minutes is meant to be a prediction for which way the market is moving Now that doesn't mean the market's going to move that way all day long That's why you have to decide if you want to write it to the end of the day (expire or sell a .10) or as most other tutorials explain sell for 50% profit meaning you're getting out as soon as you can and someone else is assuming that risk I've only been trading for a short time but I found that typically the first 15 minutes of the day really signifies how the day's going to go That being said the market does whatever the heck it feels like so don't rely on the strategy for the rest of your life use common sense and seeing which way the market is going There's been a few trades that I've had to cut my losses early just because I didn't like the way the market was looking

@@VoidRealms Brian, I fully understand what you're say and I would never rely on anything when it comes to the market. Just have to try and find a way to put the odds in your favor which is not easy. One more question, when the market prints the first 15 minutes you have your basic direction based off where it is in relation to the close from the previous day, then do you enter or are you using the other indicator(s) ? The problem I have found over the years indicators are after the fact. Thanks for the Reply Back!

Paper trading is recommended to learn the platform. Make your mistakes on Simulated trading. The Sim trades often get fantastically unrealistic fills; The TD AmeriTrade rep assured me that the sim fills mirror the real money trades. Don't believe it. I took my sim account from $20k to one trillion plus in less than 8 months. It helps if you have experience with using the platform to follow this video. Overall- it was a very good presentation. A fully explained strategy for credit spreads. You can do debit spreads with the same process-just reverse level lines.

You are absolutely right because I did paper trading with great success but when come to the real account, either the trade never fill in, or they will be closed to the very thin profit. The records that you showed of your trading result is simulated or real?

I find taking $5 wide strikes give me a better return. What are your thoughts? Also what time of day do you try and get in? Today I got in at 10:25 and again at 11:05 when I saw how good the market was doing. The second enter was an experiment. about later in the day trades.

Hello and thank you for a great video. I really appreciate you making such a detailed video about SPX. I do have a question regarding the spread sheet and the amount that appears in the RISK column: I noticed that on row 2 under Risk: $827.00 but the strikes are a $5 dollar spread (4265/4270) and you sold 3 contracts on a put vertical. $5 * 100 * 3 = $1500... or am I misunderstanding something? You mentioned how your profit should be about 1/3 of the possible loss... how is the loss so low? I love the rule, I just don't know how to lower the Risk. Can you elaborate on this? unless I'm just confused, thanks either way, great information.

As with everything, this is changed a lot since I've recorded it I know use Python and wrote a script to try to protect the stock price historically it's been within $10 the closest I've been is 73 cents and the furthest away is $50 but usually it's within $10, still testing it I might make it into a website at some point
