@@roxtechs My guess is when they wanted to record this, the English dub got delayed, but they wanted to keep to their upload schedule, so they switched to the sub

I watch in both sub and dub and this episode splits my sides in both and all the references make it better. Rocky 1 training montage, naruto, dbz, street fighter, sailor moon and i heard there was a hxh dodgeball episode like this too

Regarding you saying Damian should be out since Bill caught the ball, I've seen a lot of reactors say that so I think this must be an American rule or something. Where I am from I've never heard of that rule and from anime at least the same seems to be true in Japan.

Regarding stars and bolts, it seems to me like the series counts them concurrently but separately. For example, someone could have x stars and y bolts and they don’t cancel out. So any stars Anya gets won’t cancel the bolt from decking Damian.

I'm not sure if you guys know this yet or not but I'll mark this as SPOILERS... The reason the dub was delayed was because of the season finale of the show last week. Probably wanted to space it out so they could dub. Episode 10 of the dub is up now though

Yor's teachings aren't exactly useless, but they are very difficult to apply due to Yor's inability to account for differences between herself and a 6 year old. She really skipped all the basics and went straight to the ultimate move!

The whole dub vs sub thing is just nonsense to me. I prefer listening to sub because I can read quickly and watch what happens while my friend has trouble doing that and he dislikes dubs, but chose to watch anime dubbed because at least he can watch with no distractions. People have different ways to watch and have their preferences to what version of the show they like.

The Dub vs Sub debate is stupid when portrayed as a universal truth but it's another story completely when talking about specific examples and I honestly think Spy x Family's english dub is not very good at all. Not the worst worst I've seen by a long-shot but definitely leaning into the negative side.

@@SuperMandibleclaw Not going to sit here and list out every little moment so here is just the easy stuff. 1. Damian's english voice is terrible. 2. The characterization in Yor's voice was removed. She WAS almost always calm and polite while gaining a heavy dose of coldness in her voice when killing. Now she talks normally and yells just as much as a normal person. This also means that those moments when she raises her voice while Anya is in danger are no longer special. 3. The worst dub moment was in the episode 2 party scene when Yor momentarily considered murder to prevent her brother from hearing anything. In Sub and manga she thinks about "killing all the adults here" right before a shot/panel that shows many children are in the room. English dub removed the "adults" part. I wonder what the implications are in both cases.

@@finleyjeanbatiste5197 Did you actually read my comment? "when portrayed as a universal truth" as in "dubs are automatically bad every time" vs "no such thing as a bad dub". In other words I was acknowledging that there are in fact excellent dubs and even MANY that are slightly lesser than original but with no major problems. I was only disagreeing about this being one of them. Ironically there is an example of really good english dub that that the Renagades previously refused to use (Steins;Gate) so them suddenly hating on sub-purists NOW with THIS dub feels odd.
