I just got mine today (06-16-2023). A regular S30V version with all-black hardware. It came drop-shut out of the box although the blade is slightly off-center which I don't really mind. It's not too bad. Just another Spyderco to add to my collection. 🙂

60 seconds of 400 grit sandpaper on the scales after removing the clip (yes, wear a mask to avoid breathing the loose fibers) & the G10 is perfectly pocket-friendly. Dab with mineral oil to restore the deep color. Thx for the great review!

I will contest to this being a solid knife especially in the Rex45. It’s tough as hell. I bought some extra scales because the burnt orange took on some dye from my Levi’s after carrying it for a couple hours. Swapped them out for some brass flytanium which I mirror polished. It’s pretty heavy in the brass but it looks so cool. This is my Detroit knife due to the restrictions in the city proper. I also found some regular black G10 scales that I can swap if need be. This steel is a beast on such a small knife. Love it. Man, you are right though if Spyderco made the Lil Native scales in a Shaman contoured G10 that would be nuts. I would buy it in a second.

I love this lil guy. I hope to score the Rex45 soon. Would be an awesome addition to my collection. Though I will be swapping those scales out asap lol.🍻

Funny. I just told my friend exactly what you said in your conclusion. Give the Native 5 a compression lock and that will be my ultimate everyday carry. The Shaman is my favorite folding knife ever but it's just a tad too big. The Para 3 is great but that hump, which used to not be an issue with me, seems bothersome. Maybe I had just gotten so used to my Shaman and Native 5s.

Would love to see a native 5 with compression lock and heavy chamfering 😉 but I been thinking about picking up the base model or the s90v one that’s about to drop. I think it would make a great back up blade and look good with my IG pocket dumps 😂!

Size and looks, my native 5 is my all time favourite even though it’s a lightweight version. But it get the least pocket time on a day to day basis, just because the back lock is a bit boring. I’d love another lock available, and if I’d get to be picky a deep carry clip.

Glad to see you approve of the blade cus I just bought this off of eBay for 200usd, not to terrible of a price but it’s a bit much. I’m going to dump some more funds into it though, swap out the scales for carbon fiber, and maybe send it to REC to be murdered out.

You shouldn’t care who likes what, you should buy what you like and what you approve. This is a great knife and all steel versions it comes in.

It doesn't stick much, but the sticking part is bright orange in this model.

This is a great little knife. It would be perfect if they thinned the blade down to aid in cutting. .015” behind the edge would make it so much better.

The in between knife you were describing at the end sounds like a compression lock Native. Maybe we'll see that at some point

@@metal_complex I thought you said Para 3 sized. When I put the Native next to it, they are nearly identical in length from the forward choil to the back of the usable part of the handle

My Native 5 in Maxamet is a beast. Of course back locks are a sensitive subject but they are operable with one hand with practice. Great review!

2.5" blade with a compression lock? Man, I want one already. Would probably be a bit of an upgrade from my EDC, a G10 dragonfly. FYI, it looks like the Shaman has fully radiused edges (rather than a 45 degree chamfer).
