Favorite folders you've gotten in the last few months? I've been considering a Bugout or Stretch 2 K390. Also considering the Microjimbo but man prices be getting kinda crazy😅

K390 stretch 2 is really hard to bet if your wanting a high performance user.

His description of the compression lock is wrong, the blade actually a ledge that the liner moves over, so any downward pressure on the back of the blade compresses the liner between the blade ledge & stop pin

Just want to point out that the compression lock locking interface is actually underneath the lock leaf and what is pinched is the leaf between the blade and the stop pin. A minor difference.

Yes, the yojimbo 2 won't survive the tree test. But I carry one almost all the time because I'm not expecting a tree to attack me . This is a self defense weapon only for me

I stopped buying frame locks all together. I know I’ll likely never put enough stress to fold it. Still, I want the peace of mind. I’m ok with compression locks but I mainly use Demko knives

I heard G10 is close to printed circuit board material. Cool microscope pics. That torque rotation is how I broke my civivi's tip... 😢 Cool knife !

I could absolutely guarantee that the yojimbo won't survive the tip test. I literally get one or two in per week for retips.

i just discovered this channel this video is first one and it turned out my favorite channel already. there are ton of knife channels and all they do is say that steel is this handle is that, yo i know coz it says on knife. you go so deep that i cant resist to put you in my top 3 favorite knife channels. only thing that this video is lacking is disasembly, or quick picture of dissasembled knife, coz i always modify my knives, either make fingerchoils or reshape the blade, and seeing internally is a very usefull thing to see. good job and thank you for being.

Welcome to the channel! I don’t always do disassembly bc liner lock is a liner lock, so unless there’s something interesting, good or bad, then I will show it. There are some videos that have partial disassembly to show a new feature or lack of one 👍

This is great! Nice to see a stress test that has some thought put into it vs some guy the tries to see how many lateral blows from a sledge hammer it will take to break it. Well done!

I like your testing. Don't need any other reasons for a knife than - I like the way it looks or I'm interested to see how/if this works (as long as it doesn't interfere with financial obligations).

Actually, I'd be very happy if you're so inclined to answer a question for me: I own a Manix 2 XL in S30V, sharpenend at a fixed angle system to 17/17 degrees and cutting cardboard, I regularly get microchipping on a teeny tiny hairline on the apex of the bevel. Is this a sign of a burned (secondary hardened) edge or just "normal" with S30V? Thanks 🙌

I don’t think the edge is “burnt” but the heat treat may vary on a mass produced blades because the bigger the furnace, the more variability is in the temperature throughout the batch. So I would recommend increasing the angle to 18° per side and using the knife for a while. If it still chips, go to 18.5 and so on. Dr. Larrin Thomas recommends this approach in his book and videos.

@@doransponsel4813 Thanks, knife was professionally sharpened on a Tormek system up to 32.000 grit and then stropped with diamond emulsion. Came totally clean but developed chips in less than a day of light use 🤯

Too small IMO. Have a few Yojimbo2’s and a few Yojumbo’s. Think the yojimbo2 is the perfect size. Just my opinion 🤙🏻

Snody designed and made knives in this design long before Mr. Janet ever thought of it! He so much as said so in one of his vid's yet he is getting credit for Snody's design. I made them in stright Knives before either which Snody will tell you the same. KnifeMakerRetired after over 47+ years in the Craft

Great to hear from an expert! To be honest, this design existed since the first sword was ever broken on a battlefield and then sharpened to a point. I would guess from the Bronze Age onwards. Nowadays the style is called Sax as in short for Saxon, but the idea existed in Egypt since 3000 BC. Whatnkliffe is a misnomer too because that one would have a curved slope.

Good question! The point of a knife is the very end of the blade where all the grinds terminate. It is also called a tip sometimes.
