To see the difference markers between the sheep’s foot ,tanto and reverse tanto is the tip geometry… the sheep’s foot ( which the smock is) has no secondary bevel, the tanto has a secondary bevel but is upper tip forward and the reverse tanto is congruent with the sheep’s foot but has a secondary bevel too. BTW…I’m not the blade police , just giving an explanation…lol.

New subscriber and just purchase a smock. I have had it a total of 3 days. What a great knife. I own a par 3 as well great knife as well. Did you know that there is a company called blades we love that mods out a left haded PM-2 and adds the compression lock button to the knife. Very cool and i will be picking one up in the near future.

Great video! I have a smock and a Manix 2. Not sure about the PM2. If I was going to get one it would probably be the PM3 for the size. But t the PM’s are kinda ugly, lol

Great video! Love them both. I think the Smock is more gentlemanly and the Pm2 is a more hard use/work knife. The Spyderco rabbit hole is deeeep! Started collecting knives 5 years ago and now have a pretty big Spyderco collection. The Smock is using a modified left hand compression lock with a button to activate, pretty cool. Have you ever checked out the Sliverax? It's one of the few flipper/ball bearing knives Spyderco makes. I liked it so much I bought another one to do a flipper delete on. Nick Shabass has a video on the Sliverax with a deleted flipper. They were recently disconinued and are available at great prices until they're gone.

Doesn’t it hurt your index finger? the way you close the compression lock is unique lol. It seems you do it with the tip of your finger and hold the knife kinda to the side. Maybe I’m tripping.

It does hurt my index finger. I noticed it a lot more at the beginning when I first got my pm2 as my first compression lock knife. But I think over time, my finger has grown up a bit and is less of a wimp lol 😂 that where the CME or compression made easy comes into place. Thank you for your comment! 🤝🏼

@@MiguelEDC Yo Miguel, I just subscribed to your channel. Are you getting the new Spyderco models? The Tanto PM2 is back, the Salt variations, the new Bodacious? I just spent all my budget on those 3 in 2 days. By the way I live and work in Mexico so I guess that blew my budget for next few months lol. 😂 oh well. Xmas came early right.

I love the design of the Smock, it looks incredible, its function is incredible, BUT, you CANNOT compare the build quality of the USA made Spyderco's to the foreign made ones. I have had a few Spyderco's over the course of my life (still have quite a few) and as good as the Taiwan/Japan Spyderco's are they are not in the same league. I want to make it clear, you absolutely can get GREAT quality knives made all over the world from Italy to China, but in particular with Spyderco, the USA made ones are just better. Now that is out of the way, the ergonomics of the PM2 are so SO good, the knife melts into your hand with little to no hot spots, and the jimping is about the most perfect on any pocket knife. The PM2's blade is plenty long enough for that forward finger choil, and it gives you so much confidence and control in the cut. Blade shape goes to the smock, I love a wharncliffe/reverse tanto/sheepsfoot; they are the best edc design IMHO. But this is not to say the PM2 is bad, and the tip is so pokey. Blade steel is easy, the new PM2 is really well heat treated s45VN and it is WICKED. Then there are the endless sprint runs that give you access to Magnacut, Rex45, SPY27, 15V and on and on and on. the PM2 is also endlessly customizeable, just look at all the scale options from your pros like Flytanium and RGT to the million Etsy people making 3D printed and wood scales. Also, if you want the ultimate PM2, you have got to check out the BladesWeLuv website for some amazing customs. There is but 1 choice, the PM2 is the CLEAR winner.

@@MiguelEDC hey I love videos like this. TBH I wish that the Smock was USA made, I may have even picked one up, BUT I have had a few bad incidents with QC from outside of the US made Spyderco's. I had an S35VN PM2 and that was put together and finish so well. I recently picked up an all black DLC coated S45VN PM2 and with all the new knives out there and technology that has been developed, it is still one of the best knives available. It isn't the best, BUT IMHO it is in the Top 10. I mean it is in my Top 3, Demko AD20S sharkbelly (USA made, I prefer it over the AD20 just because it is a little more edc friendly), the Spyderco PM2 (original one, pick your blade steel Spyderco does a great job with their heat treats), and the Microtech Ultratech (just a great OTF, again take your pick of steels and blade shapes). Yeah there are other grail knives that I would love to get my hands on, but they are all CRAZY expensive and for me would end up as a safe queen. If I win the lotto one day, maybe; otherwise those are my realistic Top 3.

Never liked spydercos because they’re just ugly lol. I recently bought a smock because it doesn’t look like a spyderco 😂.

I get you 100% that was me at first. I also thought they were ugly at first. But once I gave them a chance, and I’ve been very selective so far, I love all the ones I own.
