It is hard to spot for sure. For most people I think this is because they're not seeing the truth at all or not having an opportunity to even understand the truth, and becoming firmly planted in grace because they become veiled by being stuck in a religious environment. I've found that It's often a number of factors that lead to this. Usually it's a lack of good teaching. Or any teaching. Babes today are often quickly surrounded by religious people that are barely on milk. And the babes never actually hear the one true gospel, or what Christ has done for them or what they have, and can enjoy now. Or any of that. Hearing the words, "dead to the law" and "Christ in you" in any of the institutional churches today you could almost call a miracle. And more often than not it's because of these useless pastors that are really just hirelings with their scant understanding of the word, that don't really care about the sheep and the building up of the body. And instead they're just merchandising the word. And It's become all about bums in chairs and tithe money. And they're often weak leaders that don't want to offend anyone resulting in that lukewarm mixture of sheep, wolves, hirelings, and yes men under the same roof. How can you know if someone you consider to be a friend is actually just a wolf waiting to tear you down, when only one person who actually speaks bible sounding things for an hour, doesn't mention Jesus once throughout most of their sermons, has all their doctrine mixed up, and then immediately disappears after their done beating the congregation after 40 minutes or so? And they make sure there's no time for real fellowship afterwards because the church doors close in 10 minutes. If the babes in Christ aren't shown those key verses in Paul's epistles. like for example Romans 3:20 and Ephesians 2:8-9 or encouraged to read for themselves. How can they themselves realize that something's not right when the useless pastor says "repent of your sins" or "lose fellowship with God for unconfessed sins" or some other rubbish. "But to him that works not, but believes on Him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness" Romans 4:5

I don't understand. When I was confused about the gospel I was completely fearful with no peace until I knew the truth. Why isn't the same for others?
